Aero HOOD!!!!

Hi all,

I am new here and am struggling to find a aero hoos for my Saabaru. I got into a front end collison and the body shop is willing to swap my hood from the original to the sport look of the aero hood.

I NEED HELP FINDING ONE!!!  lol.....they have searched everywhere and are currently looking in sweden. Please contact me if you can provide me details as to where I can locate one etc...

I appreciate your time.

Re: Aero HOOD!!!!

RayRay, let me just make sure I understand you correctly. You currently have a 2.5i with a damaged hood. You now want the members of this forum to help you find an Aero hood to replace that damaged hood so that you can enjoy a 'sport look.'

facepalm

If that is indeed what you are saying, I think you will quickly find that you are told to GTFO, as there are currently multiple members who actually need an Aero hood to put on their Aero car and would all but asplode their brains should they discover that someone with a Linear managed to get one for no reason other than that it looks cooler.

Re: Aero HOOD!!!!

Nicely put, there is a waiting list for an Aero hood by people who have actual Aero 92xs. I suggest sticking with the usual Linear hood.

However, if you want a sport look, it is not difficult to make your own cuts into a hood and put your own hood scoop on there. You could get it paint matched by a body shop and the 02-05 WRX hood scoop wouldn't look out of place on that car.

Re: Aero HOOD!!!!

I appreciate your feedback. I didnt know that these were so hard to find. I have my body guy currently ordering parts from Sweden to fix my car. I thought it would be a nice addition to give it the sport look. If I manage to make the connection I will quiickly forward any info over for others.

Thanks for the quick reply guys.

Re: Aero HOOD!!!!

Another quick question, would the subaru hood fit? or would just the mod be needed?

To answer your question further I do have the 2.5i 9 2x and was looking to get the sporty look.

Thanks

Re: Aero HOOD!!!!

Any 2005 or 2006 92x hood will fit.

As others have said, there is a shortage of aero hoods, and there are a number of members with Aeros who need them for accident damage repair.  From my understanding, it will be an issue for some time until Saab Parts AB gets their legalities together and starts producing parts again.

Subaru hoods will fit, but only if you put subaru fenders, headlights, and bumper as well.  You may also need to weld in a new radiator support... I'm not sure.

If you want to do some custom fab work, you can get a linear hood and fit a wrx hood scoop, if its only for show.

There is your problem right there.  They are not even looking on the right continent.  Good luck in your search though...

Re: Aero HOOD!!!!

Umm, how so? Saab was a Swedish company. The few body parts that were not Subaru parts would have been Saab parts. If you're going to say shit like that, be helpful. Otherwise, you're just wasting everyone's time.

OP, be sure to make sure your shop knows this car is 99% Subaru.

You're a new member. It's fine. No worries. Some people insist on being assholes everywhere they go.

A WRX hood will not work, and isn't worth the hassle to make work. My honest recommendation, if you want to sporty look, is to get a 2002-2005 WRX hood scoop and put it on there. There are plenty of DIY threads on how to do this on the internet.

I don't think they would stock parts in Europe for a car that wasn't sold in Europe. Also, the car was made in Japan. Also, it has nothing to do with Saab parts.

Re: Aero HOOD!!!!

A front end collision includes some Saab parts.

I do not know where OEM parts are kept at. I know where it was manufactured and where it was sold, I also know where Saab was out of. That being said, logic says there are three different areas worth looking into for parts.

Obviously, America is the first and only one you should really have to check. But if you can't find them domestic, looking overseas isn't a bad idea either.

I think that the Saab body parts were made in Japan, along with everything else.  That is, Saab in name only.  I didn't buy any major body parts, but many spares I got had Saab stickers over Subaru.  I think that the replacement bumper skin was made in the US, but can't remember with certainty.

Re: Aero HOOD!!!!

I learn something new every day.

I figured Saab would have made the 9-2x specific parts.

Don't take it as incontrovertible fact.  That's just my recollection.  Saab designed them, but I think that they were still made in Ota Gunma, Japan (that's where the window sticker said my car was made).

Yeah mine was made by Fuji for sure, I'd have to go look and see exactly where it says.

Re: Aero HOOD!!!!

OP, I would highly suggest not listening to anything Homyality has said in this thread.  No model year WRX hood will work without replacing other body panels, it's not a good idea to cut holes into your hood and fabricate your own scoop, and finally, 9-2x parts will not be found in Sweden.

I guess this makes me an asshole, right Homyality?

Re: Aero HOOD!!!!

Also, OP, don't spam the fuck out of the site like that.  Do some searching before posting, and also know that this is an active forum and we'll usually see your post pretty quickly.  Also, before jumping to anyone's advice, take a look at post count and registration date.  If people are still here after several years and a thousand posts, it's because we've found them either useful or amusing in some way.

My $.02 - you're not going to find an Aero hood any time soon.  And cutting holes in your hood to rig some WRX scoop is janky-ass shit.  the 2.5i does not have a TMIC in the path of the scoop, and all you'd be doing is funneling rain, snow, and road shit right into your engine bay.  Save your $ for fixing something that breaks, or for some suspension mods - the biggest bang for your buck in the 2.5i.

If you didn't find this one helpful, maybe there'll be something of use in the other 2 identical threads that the OP created.
