How many Bay Area 9-2x'ers are left?

The numbers have obviously been on the decline, but just wondering how many of us are left? Bueller...

You mean those that actually still have them, or those that still post?

Still here.  Car's going up for sale very soon, but I'll stick around even after that.  Been here too long to just bail out like that.

I'm still here and waiting for a bay area saabaru meet and greet!

My reason for asking. Just trying to see if there is a solid number to make a meet and greet worthwhile.

Glad to hear it. Still loving that C30?

Re: How many Bay Area 9-2x'ers are left?

I've got almost 1000 miles on it, and yes, I am.  It's handling is better than the 9-2X was new, but is not up to the level of the Linear with its current suspension.  The luxury aspect is apparent even with the R-Design.  The car floats a little too much, and the nose heels over too much under hard cornering.  There's plenty of potential, though.  I'm thinking Bilsteins, and perhaps a little more front anti-sway bar will tighten things up.  That might also give the Dynamic Stability Control a little less to do.

Still, it was a couple of years before I really had the Linear's chassis properly sorted, so I'm not complaining.  I enjoy doing the work, so having something to do is fine by me.

Not sure if I've mentioned it here, but the C30 forum has one interesting difference that caught my attention.  Where here, people wil say "I got this, and put it on over the weekend" and there, it's more often "I got this, and had it installed this week."  More people getting things done, fewer doing things.

Interesting. I wonder if they're just not wrench savvy? Lazy? Not enough mechanical on the car, more electronic? What do you think? Good to hear you're enjoying it though. I'd love to take a ride if we setup a meet and you join.

They are Volvo owners.  They wouldn't want to get dirt on their suede shoulder patches.

Elbow patches?

Anyway, that might be it.  It might also be that they generally have more money, so never *had* to do their own work.  There's at least one guy who bought some Genuine Volvo technician's shirts to give to the people at his father's shop, because his father makes them work on his car.  Interestingly enough, he's the one who gave me shit when I was listing criticisms in a thread for "New Owners Likes and Dislikes."  He might be the resident asshole.  Still trying to figure out who is worth listening to and who to ignore.

Anyway, yes.  There is a different vibe over there.  Seven years here and no one has told me to go fuck myself, yet I can check that box off already over there.

Re: How many Bay Area 9-2x'ers are left?

I was thinking elbow patches as well, but thought Az may have been up on whats trending in Volvo owner fashion. I was wrong.

Seems as if a car forum, or any forum for that matter, wouldn't be right without an asshole. At least he has established himself.

I was thinking tweed jackets, but there are sweaters with leather on the shoulders.  Then again, I got the "gfy" response when I pointed out a little hypocrisy, so perhaps it's the new way of saying "sorry, my mistake."

That's a possibility, maybe it's a pride thing. Seven years and no one has told you to go fuck yourself. Apparently, Az is the first. :partyhat:

By the way, whereabouts are you in the area, Liz?

Who would be down for a little meet and greet? I know we've discussed this previously, I think the ideas were shooting or karting. Anyone want to put in their .02?

Re: How many Bay Area 9-2x'ers are left?

That makes two gopros. I would venture to guess that the other 92x'ers wouldn't be too fond of smashing around the city, but maybe i'm wrong. Tunnels are always fun  big_smile Anyone else have a say? Korn? Wolf? Az? Liz? Gray?

I'm here.  I'd rather cruise open roads than the city.

Re: How many Bay Area 9-2x'ers are left?

Anyone have suggestions for nice back roads? I know Skyline, Mines, Calaveras, Palomeras, 84 -> 1, and I forgot the name of a road in the wine country that's exceptional. Built in the 60's or something without much traffic, passing lanes, but supposedly there have been more and more sheriffs in recent years.

Re: How many Bay Area 9-2x'ers are left?

Marin County has some pretty nice places.  I'm partial to Lucas Valley Road->Nicasio->Point Reyes Station->Hwy 1.  South on 1 goes past Stinson Beach, and you can cut over Mt. Tamalpais back to 101.  North on 1 goes to Bodega Bay and beyond.  Beach traffic on the weekend is a hazard, and Sunday you might cross the SMR (Sunday Morning Ride - motorcycles treating the road as a race course).  Other than that, it's beautiful.

Checked it out and seems like a nice route. Possibly a little far for the Southeast Bay folk  arrow-left but interested for sure.
