Austin, TX sightings

Well, since this section of the board is stale like a swamp, I figure I'll try to stir it up a bit and keep posting (and maybe someone will chime in here and there!).

This is the Austin sightings thread.

Saw a gray Linear today on route 71 in Bee Caves, heading west (around 620).
I was with a friend in a Chevy truck this time....

probably no one on here, but what the hell, I'll post just for increasing my post count!

Obligatory sig with extensive power mod list for greater respect:
-JDM oil pan, JDM dipstick, STI oil pickup and baffle plate for ultimate oil flow, STI midpipe for uber power gains.
-WetOkole front seat covers for ass sweat stains
-Drawtite hitch (no wiring) for a bike and a trunkmonkey for shits and giggles

Re: Austin, TX sightings

saw a black 9-2x going on 71 westbound today at around 5pm. I was coming off Southwest parkway and making a right onto 71.
Didn't see if it was an Aero or Linear....it was black, tinted, and went by quickly. I was stuck behind some slower cars and couldn't catch up.  The car turned right into some development on the right a few hundred yards before either 2244 or 620.

probably no one on here....

Re: Austin, TX sightings

That'd be me.  Sharp looling car you have there.

Sorry for such a dirty car.  I saw you pull out from Southwest Parkway.  Trying to gain on me huh -- Sorry I had to hustle -- dropped off my son at pitching lessons in Oak Hill -- heading to daughters Volleyball practice at West Ridge.  I live off 2244 [Bee Caves].

Would like to mod the car somewhat - have an accessport.  Need to install STI Up.  Analysis paralysis on Downpipe purchase.   Been a lurker on these boards for some time.

arrow-up

Success!  biggrin
Finally actually saw a member on the roads....the ONLY other time I've spotted anyone on here was in Philly area when I saw Lunasin on the road. Never spotted anyone else in NY metro area.

I couldn't catch up on 71.....my driving "skillz" need improvement....but you were hauling ass as well.

Brian, if you need any help/advice on mods, let me know. I've had mine modded to stage 4 with twinscroll turbo and supporting tidbits, so I can help with pretty much any bolt on (install or opinion on what to get).

I'm back to stock right now, but probably not for long.

Btw, I live off of Hamilton Pool Rd, so just around the corner.

We were going to organize a drive around Lake Travis this Saturday, but the weather looks like it's going to suck big time (forecast is 45 with rain all day). So the drive is out.
I'm going to set up an install/maintenance day instead for this Sunday and push the drive until next Saturday.
Check those threads and come out to meet us.

Nick.

Re: Austin, TX sightings

Nick,

Welcome to Austin!  You sound like a great guy.  I look forward to meeting you.  I live in the Barton Creek West neighborhood.  My son and I practice at the Field of Dreams ballpark right near Hamilton Pool.  I've lived in West Austin since 1990, but have never been to Hamilton Pool.

Regards,
Brian

Re: Austin, TX sightings

malage - i think i've seen ya, i'm the punk that in a d.silver linear that passed you on the loop 1 / 71 overpass a few weeks ago. (note: I normally don't speed up like that, I'm normally a really conservative driver on freeways, but it was the first time I had seen a 92x in a long time!). I could understand why you were going slow (speedtraps all over that area)

Re: Austin, TX sightings

I drove to north austin for the first time in months today, and saw two black linears. first was in the chipotle parking lot off of loop 1 (south of the domain), then another linear heading south on loop 1.

I guess most saabaru owners live up in north austin, seeing as how the dealership is in that area too.

Re: Austin, TX sightings

Who was it today at around 6:40pm on Mopac?
Black Aero with tints and HIDs and no front license plate.
We waived to each other...then you came off on the Parmer Ln exit.

I didn't get a chance to see who the driver actually was. Had two things pressing on my mind - first was not to take a piss in the car (I had to go! lol) and second to get to Chaparral Ice in time...Had a game starting at 7pm...

Black Aero on Monday 1 block north of my house in Cedar Park. Had tint and stock 17s, driven by a chick. I think they live in my neighborhood because my wife mentioned seeing a black Aero parked couple months ago.

There is a guy that works at Wholefoods with my sister that drives a black Linear. Maybe he was taking lunch or something.

Thursday 6/19 in the afternoon saw a silver linear on Parmer turning north on the street behind Fry's. I was driving the Nissan so i didn't honk, and i didn't see who was driving coming from behind as they turned.

Re: Austin, TX sightings

I saw a red 92x this morning in Austin.  It was going n/b on Lamar, I think I was on 2nd or 3rd street?

I don't know much more, I was fighting a mild hangover.

Re: Austin, TX sightings

I've seen a red '05 Aero a few times near downtown. A black or silver from time to time as well. Discovered a client owns one just the other day. I'm still surprised to see another when they appear.

Re: Austin, TX sightings

Spotted a silver Aero at The Salt Lick BBQ, Driftwood location. I was driving my Honda with a group of S2000 owners. The roads were still wet that morning and I missed the Aero's AWD at times.

I wonder if this is me, although I have an 06.

We also share a friend, Sondra? She mentioned she knew someone with an S2000 and an 9-2X. I'm assuming this has to be you. =P

Sondra mentioned you as well. Hard to choose which car to play with sometimes. The Honda is great for top down days but the Aero is an all weather vehicle. The Saabaru replaced my 4x4 pickup and doubles as an able kayak or dog hauler. I drive the Aero so much I had to buy a float charger to keep the Honda's battery alive.

Could have been me, I had lunch with a friend at the Salt Lick little more than a week ago. I live on Lake Travis, in Lakeway, and see another silver Aero driving through town on 620 every once in a while.

I see a gray/silver Aero on 620 around Bee Cave and Lakeway from time to time as well....

As for other spottings, saw a black Aero yesterday at 4pm on SouthWest Parkway (heading away from the city).
It was most likely Brian, as he lives in Bee Cave and has a black Aero (but never posts on here).

Re: Austin, TX sightings

There are not too many of us out there, so if you see another silver Aero in Bee Cave or Lakeway, 95% odds its me. I'm always around 620, Bee Caves, 71, SW Pkwy, Hamilton Pool, I'll wave next time I see ya   cool

Mine's usually dirty, has factory 16" wheels, tint, car looks almost completely stock, except for the STi exhaust (but even that is barely noticeable). Actually, it has a semi-small 'Saab92x.com' sticker across the top of the back window, courtesy of the 1st owner (it was done tastefully, so I'm cool with it  wink).
