Unfortunately I am no longer a member of the 92x community. After 16 years and approximately 50,000 miles the car decided to start on fire as I was driving my kids home from school. I can still remember picking this car up brand new in Ann Arbor, MI. I'm so sad to see it go. I planned to keep it forever.
I suspect an injector sprung a leak and sprayed down the uppipe, causing the fire.
I just recently installed a Haltech Elilte 2500 with their dash. I tuned it myself and the 207 was running amazing. I'm just going to gut it and scrap the shell. Lots of parts survived, especially the interior. I will probably list some on here and FB marketplace.

Sounds like a scary situation, and a tragic end. Hope everyone is ok.
Curious to know what the setup was on the car, from the looks of things was pretty neat (air to water intercooler and a large rotated setup?).
Completely understand if it's too hard / sad to list it all out now that it's gone.
Thanks for sharing even if it's awful news, helps keep things in perspective.
What's the plan to replace it with?

Might have been the last original owner still here. I don't know. I sold mine years ago but still miss it. I'll toss back some aquavit in memory of such a well set up 9-2x.

We still have ours so there is at least one.

About 1 1/2 years ago, an elderly neighbor knocked on our door one morning and said our 92x was on fire (this was about 7 am). I thought, "yeah, right," but then looked on the street where it was parked, and sure enough, smoke was coming out from under the hood (car had last been driven the day before). I grabbed some water (I know, not the best thing), ran out and opened the hood (I know, not the smartest thing), and saw flames all around the battery. Dowsed it with water (I know...), and got it out. Two wires had been rubbing, were touching (one was to the battery), had melted about 2 feet of the wire plastic off, which had dripped onto the battery and was starting to flame up. Disaster averted (and neighbor rewarded with gift certificate to Duncan Donuts). When I looked it up, seems it's quite common. For me, the save was in time, and a quick replacement of cables solved it (and mechanic friend filled me in on a certain Volvo model that was notorious for doing it at some point in its life). So sorry for your loss.

Wow, that is tragic, so sorry. I still think about mine (though I know who has it and get to talk about it occasionally). That hood, did it melt? If so, one hot fire!!!

Holy smokes!
I'm glad that everyone is okay but so sad to see an original owner lose their car in such a unfortunate way.

Holy crap, sorry to hear! Glad you and the kiddos are doing fine though.
Any idea of what's next?

And you both joined here before I did, even if by a few weeks.

Good to see a FNG showing respect.

Yes, the aluminum hood melted, it was a very hot fire. The good news is that firewall did its job.
Glad to see some OG members still have their cars.
I'm not sure what platform is next. I still have the 818 for a "subaru" platform. Although, that car needs to be K swapped. Low torque and peak horsepower at 9,000 RPM would be better in a 1900 lb car.
92x Mods included...
Full JDM V9 Spec C Type RA swap... sedan arms, brakes, axels, engine, tranny, diff, etc.

Also still technically have mine, though it's been sitting in my garage and has been collecting dust and not being driven for the past ~4 years. Don't think that counts.

Holy crap that’s awful man! I’m so sorry. Lucky no one got hurt. That’s one of my fears that something like that could happen to mine.
