I hit a deer, and need help piecing her back together

(Not the deer.)

So the unthinkable happened and I nailed a small deer at about 50 MPH in my 2005 Aero. It took out my right headlight, fender, hood, radiator, and radiator support.

I can find most of the Saabaru specific external body parts online, but from what I'm reading, the radiator support is also a Saabaru specific part. Is this true, or does the stock Impreza support also work? I read somewhere that the 2006-2007 hawkeye supports might work.

If anyone can help, I would be super grateful. Any other advice for piecing this beautiful car back together would be appreciated too.

Good luck.  I've been collecting parts for years.  But I don't have a front radiator support...

See if you can talk this seller into sending the part on a greyhound or freight shipper:

Re: I hit a deer, and need help piecing her back together

When I still had my 9-2x almost 4 years ago, parts were very scarce. Today, we're talking about a 15 year old car with a very limited production run  from an out-of-business car company - everyone's fear about parts availability has come true.

Finding an Aero hood AND a headlight is going to be a fool's errand - doubly so if HID. There were only ~2000 9-2xs equipped originally with HID headlights in 2005, and 2006 headlights are slightly different. Even finding a used 2005 headlight is next to impossible and new ones are NLA. You're going to have to fix the radiator support, too.

I think that despite the cache that the 9-2x has, the time has come to swap the front end over to WRX. Choose your favorite generation - bugeye, blobeye, hawkeye, and get a front cut of a car, and begin piecing it together.

I feel your pain...

https://www.saab92x.com/viewtopic.php?id=6058

Even when the car was less than a year old, the upper rad support was a problem.....

There were some other bits that were unique, because the front end has more sweep (looking  down from above) than the WRX (for example, the battery tray is different, the battery is at a different angle relative to the long axis of the car)

So, krazy is right.  WRX swap or bye bye now.....

Re: I hit a deer, and need help piecing her back together

I know this post is a bit old now, but the upper core support can be replaced by the equivalent Subaru part, if you pull the 2 bumper cover support tabs off the wrecked one.

how do i know? ive done it.... twice.... because i too hit a deer..... twice

This is interesting, can you expand? Are you drilling out spot welds and combining the Impreza upper core with the 9-2x lower?

yeah, the 2 attached brackets on either side of the hood latch are spot welded on, and just need to be drilled out on both parts, and move the saabaru specific pieces to the subaru upper support

Thank you! I'm still piecing her together hahaha. I had just ordered an upper core support but saw those two metal tabs, and I guess I'll have to salvage them too.

Do you know if the radiator supports that the headlights fit into are also swappable between Subaru and Saabaru? I believe they're called Side Panels. Do you know which ones work? I just ordered one for a 2006 Impreza since I heard we had more in common with them then with any other specific sub generation.
