Engine: Fix or sell?

IDK if this is the most appropriate area of the forum to post this but let me know, I guess? I have an '05 Saab Aero that I've just been told has two bad cylinders so the engine needs to be replaced. It'll cost 5k to get a new engine with around 85k miles. I don't have the savings. The car's body is in great condition as is the interior. Kinda torn 'cause the car has been a headache since I purchased it between the airbag sensor, then the timing belt, AND water pump (never actually replaced yet, apparently the new engine will resolve timing belt though.) I don't know if I could even find a better car for the same price as fixing this one. Is it worth selling, or should I try and swing fixing it? If it's at all relevant, I live in Maine and there are definitely a lot of Subaru fans.

Re: Engine: Fix or sell?

If the car is clean and doesn't have the strut tower rust, then it is probably worth saving. If it's rusty, then no, probably not worth it.

Re: Engine: Fix or sell?

I got a rebuilt engine for my Aero about 5 years ago from in NY.  $3200 total including shipping both ways (core charge).  Had a local shop do the swap for $1200.  I also had the clutch rebuilt while they were in there.

I'll show you Zoom Zoom!
