Considering purchasing this 92x aero. Need input/thoughts

Hi all,

I'm considering purchasing this aero:
https://sacramento.craigslist.org/ctd/d … 89478.html

The guy who is selling it got it from an auction and has no more info than is on the listing.  It's a little over an hour to drive there from where I live, so I'd love any advice on what to look for when I'm there.  He says there is no rusting anywhere.  What would you pay for this if you had no more info?

Price doesn't seem bad if it really is rust-free and otherwise in great shape as represented Was it in CA its whole life? That would lend credence to the rust-free claim. The strut tower rust issue is real and is really hard to check without pulling the rear interior out - not an option at a dealer generally.

Looks like a good car. Especially if it was always in CA or the surrounding region.

As for the rear strut tower rust issue, as dotmaster said, it is hard to make sure without tearing out the interior. However, toy could tap around inside the wheel well with a screwdriver and listen for different sounds. The car would need to be lifted off the ground and the wheels taken off though. If you are standing facing the car on the driver side, the place you want to tap is at your 9-12 o'clock area inside the well and 12 to 2 o'clock on the passenger.

Weren't the front lower control arms also a point that rusted?  Granted that they could have been replaced, but the undercarriage in general should be a good indicator.  Even if it were used regularly to go to the mountains in the winter, we don't salt the roads.

Looks pretty good. Not sure if it’s just the pics, but the paint looks odd in #18, the left side of the center console by the stereo looks dirty or damaged and the jean shorts in #8 are a definite fail.

The car has always been in CA and it is a true 2-owner car. No accidents reported to CARFAX. VIN is JF4GG22695G051205. Everything checks out there.

Edit: Just saw the CARFAX was shown in the last picture...oops.
