9-2x rear bumper cover replacement

Hi, I need to replace my rear bumper cover on a 2005 wagon. Is there a wrx cover that is compatible? If so, what year? Thank you.

Re: 9-2x rear bumper cover replacement

Not sure what you mean by "bumper cover", but the rear bumper was one of the bigger cosmetic differences between the cars; the WRX had the license plate embedded in the bumper while the 9-2X has it in the middle of the hatch, with the associated relocation of the license plate light wiring, so I doubt it's a direct swap.

Re: 9-2x rear bumper cover replacement

If you want to use a WRX rear bumper cover you need to replace the tail lights and hatch as well, they're all a slightly different shape.  Used covers are out there, search www.car-part.com

Re: 9-2x rear bumper cover replacement

The license plate location is not a problem, what worries me is the width. The tail lights are also different on the wrx.

I'm no longer sure what you're asking. You either replace the parts I mention or stay with 9-2x, there is no middle ground, nor is there a width issue.

Re: 9-2x rear bumper cover replacement

Option #1:
Find used 9-2x bumper cover.

Option #2:
Replace rear hatch/glass, tail lights, and bumper cover with WRX equivalent. Rewire license plate lighting location from upper corner of body to come out near spare tire well.

I know which I would do. #2 seems prohibitively expensive, even if parts are easier to find.

Thank you. It's just that finding a 9-2x bumper is not that easy.

Yeah. I am this guy. Before being hit by some reckless red light runner, the car was in perfect shape all around and I would keep it as long as it lasts.
Even after the impact that on the driver's side, surprisingly the hood, the front bumper, were still in perfect shape. The reason in the photo the hood seemed not closed was because after I unlocked the hood to take some photos, I didn't shut it back before I took the photos. It still aligned well with all other panels -- of course except the driver's side fender.
It's really a shame that the car is heading to the junk yard. I see many parts are still great to be salvaged -- headlights, wheels and tires which didn't even see 1000 miles, etc.

Re: 9-2x rear bumper cover replacement

I have a spare arctic silver rear (and front!) bumper cover. In Michigan, not sure what shipping would cost
