Trunk release cable

Can anyone confirm this is the correct part number for the trunk release cable. It’s the only one I’ve been able to find and one site says trunk release cable and another sayS fuel door release cable. If anyone knows the corresponding Subaru part number that would be helpful. The local Subaru dealership isn’t the most helpful.

Part# 32007539

Thanks

Re: Trunk release cable

We don't have a trunk, or a release cable for the hatch.

I know it’s a hatch. The only website I was able to find any possible part number has it listed as a trunk release cable hence why I used that forbidden word. Seriously, either help with information that is useful or don’t reply. And yes there is a release cable. Pull off the the interior trim piece on the hatch and you will see a cable attached to the latch mechanism. Previous owner of this car tied a piece of speaker wire to it and that’s broken. I want to get the proper part so I can use the hatch.

Someone on this site has placed the release cable at some point. I don’t understand why it’s so hard to find a definite part number for this.

Re: Trunk release cable

There is no trunk/hatch release cable.

The part number you referenced is the fuel door release cable, which is NLA.

Perhaps it is a emergency release cable which the government required? In any case it’s not necessary for operation of the hatch, nor is it available.

I would wager that your rear handle is seized and that the PO used the speaker wire to open the hatch with this cable (which is ghetto). Replace the handle and you will be fine. Good luck removing the hatch trim ‘garnish’ without breaking the clips!!

I already replaced the handle and it’s still not working. The old one was seized. It was my first thought considering I went through this with my previous 9-2x. Handle replacement is pretty straight forward. Since there’s no cable, what else could it be?

Re: Trunk release cable

Are you sure it has unlocked?  If you’ve replaced the handle already you’re probably familiar with the manual unlock lever behind the interior cover or maybe the actuator isn’t releasing?

Re: Trunk release cable

Holy shit. There is a rear cable, buried in the hatch door. Part 63176 (P/N 32010347)in the diagram...

disclaimer: I haven't had a  92x since November 2017. That part is also NLA and specific to the 9-2x, so you'd need to source a used one, or somehow repair the cable.

Thank you. This is what I was trying to find.
