If the AP is a v3 then don't toss it. Get proof your car was totaled and send it Cobb and they will unlock it for less than the normally expensive fee.

Good to know that. My AP is the classic V1 which was only used once in its life time (correction, twice: the first to flash my car to stage 1, then the second to stage 2).
I am not sure Cobb will do anything about it.

Yeah, that thing is trash. Cobb themselves advise against using them due to the high likelihood of them malfunctioning during reprogramming due to age.

Alright, since I didn't get any request / offer for the car, and I am absolutely not able to just get the car to part out, I will mail in the title to the insurance company tomorrow so they can send the car for scrapes and send me the check. Sad to see it go.

I realize it now. The reason why I haven't sent in the title for the insurance company to cut the check is that deep in my subconscious mind I didn't want to see it go, even though it has been quietly sitting in insurance company's salvage yard for 3 months. I think somehow I was hoping someone can utilize the opportunity to get some still very good shaped parts so the spirit of this car lives on. I guess it's pretty sentimental and impractical.
Tomorrow I will put the title in the FedEx envelope and send it in. The insurance company agent has called me weekly and I started to feel very sorry.

Wish you were closer to New England, I'd buy it. Hopefully it ends up in a parts yard before getting turned into scrap.

i'd be interested in the your front and rear lights as spares to keep in case of damage.

After exactly 9 months, I finally got a replacement. At this moment I don't need a car, because I have been working from home for 3+ years and with this pandemic, it's not like I need to go anywhere and we do have other vehicles. I know some suggested a RAV4 Prime. I did look it up and with so little supply there's really no good deal to be had. However, when my local VW dealership was advertising really good discounts, I decided to get one for its very high safety ratings.
Of course it is not as nimble as the . Far from it. But knowing it provides even better protection than the 92x from the very sturdy body, I think it's more important for me and my family now.
Surprisingly, the OTD price for this brand new car is within $50 difference from what I paid for the 92x, 15 years ago. I got both cars with 16 miles on the clock when I test drove. With the 92x Aero, I couldn't get my first choice of color - the Artic Silver. I had to settle for the Satin Grey which eventually grew on me. With the Tiguan, I was able to get the Pyrite Silver 4-Motion. I do like how it rides much taller than the 92x (well my 92x had the STI pink springs that get one inch lower), and the suite of electronic safety features such as frontal collision brake, real cross traffic brake, blind spot alert, etc. I also really enjoy the Android Auto interface.

Good luck with it, interesting ironies, nice looking wagon.

Sorry for your loss but at least your okay. Your 92x was gorgeous with leather and manual shift. It looks like you are the original owner, is that correct?

My friend bought a Tiguan a year ago. His wife mostly drives it but they love it. It has some quirks, but nothing terrible yet. He's maybe considering the APR tune for it since I think they just released it.

Yes, I am the original owner. Had the car for the past 15 years and babied it to see its untimely demise.
On the bright side -- Tiguan actually is very smooth to drive. I clearly remembered the days when I was stuck in the traffic for 2 hours and after I got home, my left leg was so sore on stepping on the clutch so often. With Tiguan it's much easier.
