Next Dad Wagon?

Just wondering what you guys think of the Volvo V70 R?  I know like the 9-2x they are getting old and not too many came to the US.  I'm looking at the 2004-2007 years.

If you have any first hand experience good and or bad please let me know.

Thanks!

Re: Next Dad Wagon?

I was looking at buying an S70/V70R before I bought my first Saabaru. They're neat cars, but they're unfortunately plagued by a marginalized engineering process. They have a great deal of maintenance problems that become more and more prevalent as they age. They're very similar to our cars in their exclusivity and coolness to those 'in-the-know', but they lack the benefit of the shared platform and part/knowledge accessibility that we have with the WRX world.

So if your reason for looking beyond the 9-2X is that they're old and uncommon, the V70 R will be the exact same.

Following are the production numbers for the V70 R 2004 through 2007:
2004= 1,565
2005= 674
2006= 823
2007= 345

Re: Next Dad Wagon?

Hey Ben,

Thanks for the input!  I know by better judgement that looking at a vehicle that had low production might not be a great idea.  But I'm the type of guy that likes the esoteric things in life.  And as a result will most likely pay for it.

The true reason for looking at another vehicle is with a rear facing car seat in back you really cannot fit a front passenger, comfortably.  It might be my car seat setup/brand but I need to push the passenger seat way forward.  Plus tossing two large dogs in the command module (cargo area) would be nice.

Plus I have an itch to get into something different.  So no, does not need to be the V70R.  I'm willing to hear what you and others have for wagon suggestions (larger than the 9-2x).  I feel like the 9-2x has made me into a wagon kind of guy.  Only caveat is the vehicle needs to be "safe." At least new enough to have power brakes, air bags and LATCH system.  This is to keep baby girl safe and mom happy.
