Another Hot Hatch?

Looks like Hyundai is taking a stab at the Hot Hatch segment.  Looks like a good competitor, but don't think I would ever want to own a Hyundai, or be seen in one...

Re: Another Hot Hatch?

I really hate the red accents that are becoming popular on hot hatches.

Re: Another Hot Hatch?

I had a buddy that bought the original Veloster Turbo and hated it. The motor felt a lot weaker than the rated output and was generally an ergonomic disaster inside.

While Hyundai and Kia have come a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG ways from the Excel and the Sportage, they still cannot shed that image. I have owned both a 2001 Elantra GT and a 2011 Kia Sorento SX, and on both cars you could see that the price cutting was evident just a layer deep (i.e. razor sharp sheetmetal just below the carpeting, or chintzy plastic where there really should be a metal part.

I don't like the red stripe on my GTI grille.  If you get the lighting package, the red stripe continues through the headlights.  I plan on getting a new grille at some point.

Re: Another Hot Hatch?

Too bad they're sending us this instead of the i30N - a far better looking car IMO. I don't care at all about the Hyundai image - if it's as good as the reviews say (the i30N that is - haven't seen anything on the new Veloster), I'd consider it for sure. This powder blue/gray color they're doing on the N cars is fantastic, by the by.

Wow that thing is pretty sharp, especially in that color... but I'd never drive a Hyundai.

Actually not a huge fan of those.  Too long and low to be practical

Re: Another Hot Hatch?

Veloster N is doing very well in reviews and is on my short list for next car. I think it looks great!
