Indeed!  Will you be toodling through Georgia?

I actually probably will...but I also will most likely be making a full-speed trip back to Denver (~27hr drive over 2 days). I'll let you know when I'm on the road, though, and if it's convenient to meet up quickly I could be convinced.

That would be fun if it worked out.  Both office and home are couple miles off I-75 near Kennesaw (north of Atlanta).   If you are ready for a break at that point we could meet for coffee/gas and/or a quick bite. (you will need a break after driving through Atlanta...)

Need a codriver? I need some new adventures, willing to fly out from Denver and drive back if timing works.

Looks great, btw! I admire your patience- for things like cutting the exhaust pipes, I would say screw it: I want my car!

I am just going to claim #8 since I like 8 better than 7, which I believe is the actual number of followers.

I'll keep you in the loop - when the trip is official we can figure out if the timing would be doable.

I've got a few people thinking about coming with me - a couple of friends as well as my wife have expressed interest. I'd be happy to have them, of course, but I'm also somewhat looking forward to banging it out solo if it doesn't work out with them for whatever reasons. When I first bought the van in NJ back in November 2016 (which was during my bachelor party weekend in NYC) I drove it back to Denver over the course of 2 days. I stopped one time for about 5 hours outside of Columbus, OH at a rest stop to sleep in the back and that was it. It was awesome. There's a part of me that wants to relive that...

At this point on the patience thing, it's definitely very thin, but at the same time there's been so much time put into this thing I can't cut any corners now. After all that? It's gotta be right!

Re: Ford Transit Connect

Any reason they didn't toss the Sync system back into it? Or would it not fit in the dash?  I haven't been in a TC in a long time, so my mind is a bit hazy on the whatfors and whatnots of it.

A few reasons. I don't think they ever actually tried to get the Sync screen/radio in because it is different physical dimensions. But, frankly, I never really cared about it either. I've never been in a car with a touchscreen/infotainment setup and thought "man I wish I had this." So, it was never attempted.

The automatic climate controls, though, were looked at. The ones that come in the ST3 are the same as the ones that come in the Titanium trim for the TC (long wheelbase only) and they are dual-zone with digital readouts and look 100x better than the standard ones. Unfortunately, it was going to be a lot of work to make it work because the automatic controls are quite complicated both in terms of electronics and the baffles and whatnot. So, we gave up on that as well.

Sync 3 is pretty livable, but I can't remember what your donor car had.

It is fine in my FiST but I do wish I could adjust icon placement and size. Speed limit sign wjen in nav mode is virtually unreadable and overall placement and sizing of information in sirius and other menus is odd.

Well, you need to contact this company and get your hands on their body kit smile

Re: Ford Transit Connect

Still not quite done. My wife has taken to joking that they "just haven't had quite enough time."

There are a couple of small electrical gremlins they're chasing to finalize. One was that the gauge cluster lights were all on - Ford reprogrammed it (I think - haven't confirmed yet but it was at the dealer last week again) and that should resolve that.

The biggest thing is that the A/C keeps intermittently not working - the ambient temperature sensor is giving bad reading sometimes and defaulting to -40F so the A/C compressor won't engage when you push the A/C button.

Another item is that I want the VIN block reprogrammed in the PCM so that when I get emissions tested in CO they don't plug into the OBDII port and get a VIN for a Focus ST and lose their minds. That will be done by a guy in Tallahassee - Vaccar will send him the PCM and he'll reprogram it on a bench and send it back.

It's really damn close.

Re: the MS-RT body kit stuff, I've reached out to them in the past and they are unfortunately very tight-assed about the idea of providing any parts to anyone who didn't buy an MS-RT van. I guess they think their business will be at risk if you can buy their stuff a la cart rather than all put together in their boutique shop. So, yeah, won't sell me anything. Makes no sense to me - I would think they could do pretty good business by selling their individual upgrades at a healthy profit margin but they obviously don't see it that way.
