Battery for 2005 Linear

I spent too much time researching which battery will fit this car. I bought it used and it came with a 26R. (The "R" means that the positive and negative posts are reversed from the 26).  The 26R left a lot of room so I could use a larger battery.

In this forum and others, users wrote that the proper battery for this car is a 25...not so for me because the posts were on the wrong side.

I installed a 35 and it fit perfectly.

It is an Interstate from Costco. 640 CCA. $74.99 plus tax. 42 month free replacement.  Can't beat it.

I hope that this saves someone some time.

Re: Battery for 2005 Linear

that must have been a typo. the "group 35" is the battery size for all 02-07 Impreza (and Saabaru)

EDIT: sorry the 2005 92x apparently uses a group 25 battery which is oriented sideways... the 2006 92x uses a 35 like the rest of the Subarus...
What the hell Saab?

Thanks, elislider. You have a whole heckuva lot more experience than I do!  Here's an example of a post that I relied on: https://www.saab92x.com/viewtopic.php?id=27809

You guys made me go look!

My 05 Aero has a Interstate 26-640cca from Costco.  I bought it in 2016.  I didn't know the 35 fit.

Interstate Battery lookup incorrectly shows the 25.

I'll show you Zoom Zoom!

Hmmm, MY05 9-2x battery is definitely not the same as the ones I had in my bugeyes, the terminals are swapped.

Re: Battery for 2005 Linear

Yup, Saab fucked us with that quirk.  Not only are the terminals reversed, but there is not enough slack to make it work if you buy the wrong type!

Re: Battery for 2005 Linear

fact: I own a 2005 9-2x linear
fact: I installed a group 35 Interstate battery in it and it fit perfectly

I bought this car used and I not aware that there have been any modifications with regard to the battery cables, tray or hold-down

I have pictures but I don't know how to post them. Sorry.
