For some reason, the ~original fix dindn’t fix all my photos but it was about 90% effective, I’m ok with that. Give it a shot, spread the word.

2017 top mount in place, new bypass valve, now just waiting on the throttle body/intercooler coupler to arrive so I can get the car back on the road and start the etune process again.

Headlights will go on tomorrow morning, I always do my best, thank you sir. I'm going to mess around with the diverter to see if I can improve airflow but tuning is priority #1 now.

Re: My project Saabaru

After struggling the last few days trying to figure out why my new setup made zero boost and after troubleshooting swapping parts from my daily driver without success I decided to drop the down pipe to make sure the turbo was spinning freely. To my surprise, the turbo wasn't spinning at all, I pulled the turbo and while inspecting it a 14mm flange nut fell out from the cold side. Thankfully it didn't do any damage and the car is now spooling. Now the tuning process begins, here is a picture of said fucking nut.

eek Looks like a the hardware used for the up pipe brackets and turbo to dp? How did it manage to stay in there and not find its way through the exhaust?

Re: My project Saabaru

Yup, I got lucky it didn’t do any damage, it was sitting on the cold side preventing the turbo from spinning.

Started Logging, I'm on the second map revision, I can already tell I'm going to love the VF48, much better driveability.

Re: My project Saabaru

I'm not there yet, because I'm going thru the e tune process I'm only pulling from 2500rpm to 5500, just got a map that will have me pulling from 2500 to 6500 rpm. I look forward to be all done with the tune so I can take it to 8000 rpm, I'll let you know when is all done. I can already tell I made the right choice going to the VF48, I hated the Blouch18 G XTR.

Not with a vf series turbo. It's personal preference, comes down to driving style and what you want out of the car, but I still think to get the most fun out of the 207 a larger turbo is a must. Otherwise, you really don't get a chance to take advantage of the higher redline and free flowing heads. You need to accept the fact that the power band is going to shift a little to the right with a larger turbo (18g, dom 1.5 etc ), but the trade off is so worth it. From 4.3k to 8k my car rips.

I actually prefer the larger turbo for daily driving, especially with the JDM 6-speed, keeps me out of boost more and my gas mileage hs actually gotten better as a result.

Re: My project Saabaru

I also have the jdm short gear 6 speed transmission, with the quicker spooling turbo I can actually stay in 6th gear and accelerate quickly to change lanes on the highway. Before, with the Blouch 18G XTR I would have to shift to 4th gear in order to get quickly across a lane on the highway, it also would die going up hills if I didn’t gather steam at the bottom of the climb. The VF48 has a stronger midrange from what I can tell so far. Fuel consumption seems to be about the same as before, thirsty.

Re: My project Saabaru

Interesting. Sounds like your tune could have been a bit off with the 18g if your car behaved that way. I do vaguely remember your car spooling a bit later than it should have, but i could be wrong. I have plenty of passing power in 6th gear with a dom 1.5, with no real need to downshift unless I'm really trying to get going quickly.

Re: My project Saabaru

Stephen Clark works fast, I'm now on the 5th map revision. Last night logging session was awesome, still only going from 2500-6500rpm but the car felt insane, lots of power. Unfortunately the new map also brought some knock activity so he will have to revise that. I don't miss the 18G XTR whatsoever, the VF48 is a freaking winner.

The previous setup was tuned first by STI Mikey and last was e tuned by Stephen Clark from IA Performance. It may have just been a shitty Blouch turbo, I hated it for dd but I’m curious about how the new setup will compare above 6500rpm, the old setup was good to redline powerwise.
