My wife and I are going to San Francisco Saturday for a few days, then Monterey for a couple, and then Yosemite for the final 4. Any suggestions for places to eat? We'll obviously do In n Out burger one time (wife never had it), but would like to check out some cool local places. I do like breweries so those are always a plus. Also recommendations for things to do at night are appreciated too! Thanks!

Where are you guys staying in SF?
Some general recommendations:
SF: If you're near Little Italy/North Beach you gotta get Golden Boys or Tony's Pizza. Golden Boys gets my 1st place award but Tony's which is right around the corner is also a good spot.
For beer in SF, 21st Amendment has a good brewery/restaurant close to AT&T park. Anchor Steam is another SF brewery but I haven't been to their location - just enjoyed their brews at restaurants around me.
Another place my wife and I seem to always end up when we're in the Market St. shopping area for dinner is Zero Zero. Do recommend.
Monterey: You gotta go to the aquarium. Can't think of any food spots in Monterey/Carmel but there are quite a few tasting rooms in both towns if you guys are try some local wine.

In SF I like The Slanted Door. It's in the Ferry Building so the view is good, and the food is excellent. It's fancy Vietnamese fusion. The Marriot (the hotel that looks like a juke box at 4th and Mission) has a bar way up top, so a drink there as the sun is going down is a treat. I also like B44 on Belden Place for the Spanish food. There are plenty of pricey places but good stuff can be had reasonably. I'm not sure what "the" place in Chinatown is now, but House of Nanking is a always wroth consideration.
In the Monterey area, try the Rio Grill. It's in Carmel at the end of Rio Road, where it hits Hwy 1. It's not in the cutesy "downtown" Carmel. I've eaten there many times, although not recently. It has never disappointed (except the server who didn't want to take me home with her).

We were in Monterey for Car Week this year, and had a great dinner at Fandango in Pacific Grove. We ate at a place on the Wharf 1 called Abalonetti's and would recommend that also.
Fandango was better, but also pricier. Also, we found a great local breakfast joint called The Breakfast Club just outside Monterey in Seaside.

Foor food:
In SF there are so many good places that I tend not to go to the same place twice, pulling out your phone and searching best _____ in the _____ district always tends to work. Some standouts to me have been The Italian Homemade Company on Columbus Ave (cheap casual lunch spot in little Italy), if you end up making your way to the mission district La Taqueria has some amazing cheap traditional Mexican food, Anchor Oyster Bar in the Castro has amazing seafood, Thirsty Bear Brewing Company (right across from SF MOMA) has some good beers especially their sour, and Colibri Mexican Bistro near Union Square is reasonably priced compared to most other spots in the area and is decent.
As far as Monterey area goes for good fish Passionfish in Pacific Grove is good. Honestly just avoid the wharf like the plague unless you want overpriced touristy places.

Sohlman already mentioned La Taqueria in the Mission. I will add that it is consistently rated the best burrito joint in the country. I would also recommend Nopa. IOt's nearby the famous tourist attraction, The Painted Sisters (AKA where the house from Full House is). I would also recommend crossing the bridge to check out Sausalito, and eating at Scoma's while you are there.

On your way down be sure to stop at Devil's Slide Bunker right after the tunnel. There are signs saying no trespassing, but it's unenforced.

The most boring stretch of the PCH is from Santa Cruz to Monterey, but SF to Santa Cruz is nice.
There's a little cafe in Davenport, just north of Santa Cruz, that I have been to on motorcycle rides. It looks right across the PCH to the ocean. I don't know any good places to eat in Santa Cruz anymore, but I'll bet one of the bike companies can point you to a good local burrito shop.

This was by far the highlight of each of my multiple trips to SF for work a few years back.

Had the Italian Homemade Company tonight. Delicious. Also saw a couple Saabraus too! One was a arctic silver with a Yakima roof box. The other was a desert silver with black wheels, super clean looking. Both parked on Lombard st.
