Buying a Honda Fit - New/Used Opinion

It's not for me.

She looking at used Fits, 2013-2015, that are reselling anywhere from $12-15K.

Short story long, I'm thinking if she's going along this thread, why not check out incentives and start getting a few dealerships here in the valley competing to sell her a 2017.

They're $16-18K as they sit in the lot... I've gotta believe they wanna/can move some 2017s off the lot.

Also. Anyone have any Honda hook ups?  up

Pretty sure the 2013 is different from the 2015.  They took a year off in 2014 and then redesigned them in 2015, which look much better now.

Right. Agreed with the styling and interior niceties.

What I'm getting at is putting in a little effort to get a nice deal on a NEW Fit, say something that's been sitting on the lot from late 2016 or 2017 stock with new 2018s arriving, and leaving with a Manufacturer's warranty and that whole nine yards for essentially $2-3000 more financed.

I just don't see the point in her buying a used Honda Fit in this situation.

...

Doing the truecar, call the dealers, do a little competition, make them take her money is what I'm getting at.  embeer

okay. that's good news.

so as a fella in the car sales business, what would you do (or recommend) personally? or for your significant other let's say? Not letting the type of car being consider go into the equation. Let's generalize.

Re: Buying a Honda Fit - New/Used Opinion

I don't know much about the new car dealers and how the incentives work, but thinking since the 2018's are just rolling into dealers now, the 2017-2016's should be had for a decent price.  I personally would probably go a year or 2 older with low mileage, used.  Just comparing the Fit's on AutoTrader, a new 2018 can be around $20-22 depending on options, a new 2017 is pretty much the same price, and a used 2017 with a couple thousand is like $16-17k.  That's only from like a couple minutes of looking.

How picky will she/you be about colors and options?  The less picky you are, the better chance you will find one at a dealer willing to deal after the pipeline is fully stuffed with '18s

Re: Buying a Honda Fit - New/Used Opinion

My wife and I were in a similar situation when buying her car back in 2014. She wanted an SUV, we narrowed it down to the Forester and Subaru resale values being what they are it just wasn't worth it to buy used. 2-3 yr old Foresters with up to 40k miles were selling for practically the same price as new. With the small difference in price we felt it worth it to buy new instead of used w/ more miles.

New all the way.  If the difference in price is that big of a deal to her, have her finance it for another year.

Used first or second gen, got my 08 with 75k for $5k.  But that's probably not what she wants, so new.
