Once the 2009 Forester came out, they pretty much turned it from a decent looking wagon/crossover into a mom SUV.  The Forester Sports XT in WRB and STI wheels. That's where it's at.

Can confirm. haha although my wife isn't a mom yet. In due time it will be a mom SUV though.

And yea Goob, that's why I was asking you about what you were planning on to account for the drop to Legacy height. Since the standard Legacy is much lower than the raised Outback.

Do they make aftermarket springs that would give you the performance you're after but maintaining the Outback height?

Re: New to me...2005 OBXT

Here is what the OBXT look like on Spec B suspension with  .75 inch spacer in the front and a 1.5 inche of spacer in the back :

also, I am wonder if I took of the Tein H springs and put the Outback spring on the Tokico struts since they are adjustable

Re: New to me...2005 OBXT

I think that looks good without any lift spacers.  That's what I would do, just Spec B suspension (maybe a saggy butt spacer if they need em).

Yea but would the struts work with the longer length of the Outback springs? I think they're just rebound dampening adjustable, not length. Would wonder how/if they work on Outback and Legacy springs. I would bet it's only for the Legacy

Re: New to me...2005 OBXT

I love my outback factory height, new KYB Excel G struts really helped the ride quality, it's comfortable and stable. Eats crappy roads like is nothing, I would lift it 1-2" with spacers as to not change the ride feel. I just keep debating if I want to give up any mpg. Your turbo Outback already likes to drink fuel as is, stage 2 mods will also make it drink a bit faster, lift and big tires will have you hopping from one gas station to another. Perhaps lowering it and keeping street tires would be best.

Stage 2 will net better MPGs than stock, if you drive the same as you did when it was stock, which you won't.  cool

Is that mpg improvement also realized on the 2.5 ? I know it to be the case on the 2.0

Re: New to me...2005 OBXT

Can't say. I would assume so if you drive the same but not certain. Stage 2 will probably just blow the ringlands on a 2.5  spider

Pretty much.

But, yeah I can't say from experience having never owned a 2.5, but based on my knowledge of physics and car mechanics I believe it would improve efficiency.

The tuners I have talked to say I will see better mpgs due the tune, but they also can tune the 5eat because some of its functions are controlled by the ecu and other parts by the tcu.

But why are why talking about stage 2...I'm going stage 3!!!

Also the tires I will be going with a slightly taller and less width so those should not hurt mpgs

Stock diameter: 26.7"
New diameter: 27"

Stock width: 8.9"
New width: 8.5"

Why are you going with less wide tires?

niiicceee!!!!!

The TMIC looks small though. Thick, but small. I'm sure it is top quality, just commenting on the size. Reminds me a lot of my previous Eagle Talons factory front mount IC.

What's awesome about the TMIC is the guy also gave me the stock cover that was cut to fit...total sleeper

Yea, agreed though it does seem a little teeny compared to our intercoolers. Will you gain much from that sway bar? The stock one must be a twig!

arrow-up

That's too much lift and wheels.  Unless this car is going to be a off-road only vehicle, I wouldn't go that route.
