So, is the light fading at the sides, or is it abrupt?
Reread your post a few times...still confused
Here are some pics on hand that might help answer your q, if there are others that would help let me know.

Yes, got it. I just mean how definite the line is where the light doesn't reach. Some HID setups I've seen (like the mazda or whatever) looked as if you took a laser and just cut down the edge of the beam, so it looked super carved and pretty. Still probably doesn't make sense, but basically imagine perfectly filled out lines on each side on the road.
It just satisfies my OCD

Looks to me that it fades in the picture he posted, but can't say for certain

A day after putting the Legacy wheels with All-seasons back on the car as the summer setup, a set of O.Z. Ultraleggera 17x8 +48 with Dunlop Direzza Z1* tires showed up locally. The tires have about a season left, and one of the wheels appears to have a slight bend on the lip, but otherwise are in great shape. These have been on my short list of wheels that fit both my taste...and future plans
Since day one of owning the car, the ride was a bit bouncy and harsh, while still having too much body roll in corners for my taste. The combination of KYB-G struts and Epic springs from the previous owner looks good statically, but really just wasn't right for me. After days of research into struts and springs, figuring out which of STi pinks, RCE yellows or blacks or wagon blacks matched with Konis or Dspecs or Feal-revalved STi struts with zerk fittings would be right, and how ride height could be adjusted with lowering camber plates and on and on and on, my conclusion was...to get ST V1 coilovers instead. While they are only galvanized, rather than the equivalent stainless steel KW V1s, the bang for buck just makes them far too attractive to go with anything else right now. Paired with new Group N front and rear top hats (and the all important front strut cone washers) they are a much better setup for my needs.
The install with a neighbor with hand tools in our uneven parking lot on the cold asphalt in 38F weather at night after work went surprisingly well, since it was before the torrential rain came about an hour later. A friend gave me a tip for a Subaru guy who works at the Firestone right down the street from me who dialed in the height and alignment on the nice Hunter machine they have there for the price of a regular alignment and an hour of labor.
The car actually rides lower now (by choice), but is much easier to manage around the pothole filled roads of Boston with the stiffer spring rates, and combined with the stickier tires it handles substantially better. All in all a great setup, and hopefully with anti-sieze on the collar threads and regular cleanings during winter time they will last quite a while.
The only things that sometimes rub with the new suspension are the mudflaps, not too shabby at all.
While mods that have functionality are my usual preference, OEM dead-stock 9-2x door sill plates were too enticing to pass up. Curious if anyone knows how much they were as a dealer option at the time?
The big news is that the clutch sometimes slips in 4th (and 5th) gear at anything beyond moderate throttle. This isn't a huge surprise, now that it's being asked to hold quite a bit more than factory torque, but it means decision time: replace the clutch with one that will hold make the transmission the weakest link, or bite the bullet and upgrade everything. After much discussion with Saabaru300 about his new setup, as well as a local friend with a V7 swapped 04 wagon...the path forward seems clear. Now it's just a matter of when

Liking the sill plates. Where did you grab them? Do you have a part number?

Part number 32009562. Got them from eBay actually, but be advised they came with some bends in them from being taped together for over a decade, so you will have to carefully bend them back into shape.

Those wheels look great!! Dig it.

Nice job!! Same wheels that I have. I really like the look

A friend took a nice rolling shot not too long ago.
Here's a pic with the latest updates to the car. Can you spot them?

E3617FE010 for the wagon ones.
Also, since maybe it's too subtle...the tires are new. 225/45R17 Michelin Pilot Super Sports. The Direzza's were just too sketchy in the wet. PSS absolutely live up to their reputation. In normal spirited driving, the car does everything noticeably better with them--accelerates, turns in, grips, and stops. Wet weather handling is virtually identical, great hydroplaning resistance through some recent spring storms too.
Tires. Because you wouldn't wear garbage bags on your feet either.

Are those leather seats from a Legacy GT? Could you post more pics of the interior? Btw very tasteful mods, looks really good

Thanks! The seats are from an 06 limited wrx wagon. Haven't had a chance to clean the interior in a bit, will post pics once whenever that gets done...could be a little while
So been fairly busy of late, but finally got a breather and wanted to share some pics from the Boston Saabaru meet a couple months back. It was great meeting eurocoffee and some of the other local yokels.
Also, pulled the trigger on the Oswald Performance bumper beam group buy in May and they finally arrived this week, and got them installed:
Requested the front tow hook be coated in black rather than red, Mickey was happy to oblige (factory front tow hook isn't usable with these beams, rear one is). Can't say enough good things about the guy and his products. Mounting point for the tow hook didn't quite clear the inner black part of the bumper, but just carefully bolted it up and let it slightly move the bumper on its own; seems fine now. Including a few pictures of what it looks like close up, but from a distance you really can barely tell it's there (exactly my hope).
Went for a little drive afterwards, car definitely felt lighter on its feet and had sharper turn in. Most of that was probably from the front beam, which is much easier to install. Getting just the front would be my advice for anyone interested, since the rear is a pain to do (didn't have to drill any rivets, despite the instructions calling for it, but did have to undo evap canister bolts and exhaust hanger bracket bolts...ugh). Overall high quality products, lightweight and strong, and bolt right up smoothly, factory foam fits perfectly too.

I spy a eurocoffe on those meet pictures.

I've seen those beams advertised on other forums - is the benefit solely that they're lighter - by how much? Are they just as strong in a crash?
Looking good, jealous of the meet pictures! You guys got quite the good turnout.
Offline
Don't have an accurate scale to know exactly how much lighter, but roughly about 21 lbs savings each is what Mickey says on the site. He also describes the benefits--basically, dropping substantial mass from the nose of the car helps reduce understeer and makes turn in quicker because the car's center of mass is brought further away from the nose inward, meaning it the car is easier to rotate (simplifying things here somewhat). The rear is more for overall weight reduction.
Yeah, the meet was a good time...though my hunch is another 10 years most of the surviving examples will be out west...most

Since the SRS system changed between 02-05 and 06, the 04-05 black cloth wrx seats would require modification to work properly for me, as would bugeye seats, which are actually the best bolstered USDM seats with side airbags. Not to mention issues with door cards.
This is interesting data, I didn't realize there were changes to the SRS system during this timeframe. I have a MY05 and the seats are too tall for me to fit with a helmet thanks to the sunroof. I'm looking into getting some new brackets made to lower the seat but there isn't much room under there, so a different stock seat may be a good solution *if* they are lower. Did you notice any difference in seat height when you swapped seats? I have access to a set of MY02 seats, I'll need to put one in and see if there's any change, I was under the impression they were the exact same seat as my stock seats apart from the covers.

Thanks all for the kind words.
My understanding is 02-05 are the same SRS-wise, and bugeye seats are not only the best bolstered but also sit lower than later years seats...so give it a try!
