Sohlman's 2015 WRX

Figured it was time I made one of these for my new car.

Right now it's still relatively stock other than a Perrin brass shifter bushing, a Whiteline rear swaybar, and STI Enkei 18in wheels with 245s. I'm supposed to be getting a used Cobb catted J pipe and a used Accessport sometime this week so I'll report on those later.

Re: Sohlman's 2015 WRX

Oh also forgot the other modification I made this morning by hitting a buzzard on the highway
http://i.imgur.com/8lSFnLa.jpg
pushed the top of the front bumper piece down, broke the headlight bracket, and maybe bent the hood up a little bit  mad
hopefully won't be too expensive to fix

How do you feel about it vs the stage 2 9-2x on coils?

Damn, buzzard collision! That sucks. Not something you necessarily expect while driving around.

Didn't you have different wheels on it before? Did you trade for the STI wheels? Looks good regardless  up

The handling is incredible, without a question it out handles my old 9-2. So I see no need to mess with the suspension any further.

The engine feels pretty lifeless right now and has little to no character in my opinion. We'll see how Stage II changes that, but I definitely miss the old ej255.

It really came out of nowhere. I was in the passing lane and had cars behind and paralleling me so hitting it was pretty unavoidable. I'm just glad it didn't hit the windshield as things could have been a whole lot worse.

Part of the condition when I was buying the WRX from my dad was that he got to keep the Prodrive wheels when his 17 STI came. I actually really like the new wheels especially considering they're 245s vs 235s. I'm just really glad I didn't have to go back to the terrible stock 17s.

Re: Sohlman's 2015 WRX

So I put my Cobb catted and resonated J pipe on last night without too many issues other than a few stuck heat shield bolts but nothing a little brake fluid and a breaker bar couldn't fix.

With the J pipe the FA20 finally feels somewhat awake, you can actually feel boost, and it sounds about as good as I think it can. Sounds stock up until about 3,000 RPMS and has some nice mild cracks and pops when you let off the throttle.

I'm probably going to get a protune at Snail Performance when I get my next paycheck and leave the car as is. Could not be happier with the upgrade.

Thanks. I think all WRXs have looked ugly to me when they first come out, but the look eventually grows on me.

Got some things done this weekend

Oil change:

and plastidipped around my grille in anthracite

not sure if I like it or not. I'll leave it on for a bit and see I guess.

edit: the front didn't come out great and I'll probably end up redoing it if I decide I like it. Also just did the back

X3 - back turned out looking good, I'd have to see the front in person to give it a fair opinion. Sounds like it should look good in theory

Front actually looks pretty good at a better angle. The edges are super rough so I'm going to have to figure out something better to use than painters tape when I redo it.

Re: Sohlman's 2015 WRX

Do the grille pieces come off? When I plastidipped the grille on my wife's Forester I was able to remove all of the pieces so that I didn't need to worry about the pesky plastidip line and peeling.

I think you should plastidip the grille surround in red though. Lipstick? Would be a good look.  diamond
