PSSSH You haven't supercharged your wrx yet? I wonder if simultaneously running a supercharger with a turbo would be possible?

Obviously you didn't really launch the car, but still surprised how low those traps are.

Exactly this.

I only got 2 passes in my 92x when it was stock and I missed 4th both times and still got 15.0s with it. Got a few passes when I was Stage 1 and it ran 14.5 trapping in the 92-94 range (about the same traps as my Deville, actually), and my 60fts were 1.9s. Granted I launched harder than you might want to but there's no reason you shouldn't be trapping much higher than an old Caddy Deville or a Stage 1 92x 2.0T. Preserving your car is one thing but there's really no reason to baby it. You certainly didn't buy a WRX for its comfort or refinement, so why not enjoy using the car for what it's good at?

I ran 13.4 at 103 in my 2011 S60 yesterday. Very pleasantly surprised I could ET that well. Honestly I was half expecting to see mid 14s but I never ran slower than 13.9.  banana

Shit, totally forgot about my 92x people this time. I dunno if you are on Facebook but I'm all over the Mass Tuning page which is where I put out the feelers. If you aren't already a member it's a really fun internet shitshow full of car fanatics, jamokes, and hilarious trolls. Anyhow, sorry I didn't think to mention it here.  sad

Great times!  Got my Golf figured out tonight and thought the same thing. I was expecting low-mid 13's.  First run was a 12.87@108.8.  I didn't break into the 12's again but increased my trap speed, just couldn't get a good launch.

Had an early 20's kid come up to me after the racing was done and offered to buy it.   So unless the pre buy inspection doesn't go well tomorrow, I'll be on the lookout for something else, and this time I want to think outside the box.

Hey, nice work! 12.8 sounds much more like it for your Stage 2 Golf R. Curious what your bolt-ons are? I'm very familiar with the FSI parts, just curious how much work you needed to get 12s. Obviously you did a downpipe but I take it you replaced the hpfp, did a bigger IC, clutch upgrade, etc.? What tune did you go with?

You have a fun and fast collection of cars.  up

Nice!  What is done to it?

Bone stock aside from a Polestar tune which brings the regular T6 up to R-design spec. It's the same tune that's on the R-design, so it's like a 100% stock S60 R-design, only less sporty.

I did add two gallons of race gas for my last runs. My first bunch of runs was on 93 octane and I got 13.9s and a 13.8 at 100. After a cool down period and two gallons of 109, my next time was a 13.6 at 101, and my ETs continued to drop/ traps rose to 103 over the course of the next runs. I'm not sure how much of this was attributable to the race gas, or to cooler temps later in the evening but the car did feel quite a bit stronger as the night went on and the ECU adapted to all the pulls.

My 13.4 was on my last run before they closed the track. It was still 70 degrees out, so I'm wondering if it might have 13.2s in it when I run in ~50 degree air at the end of the season...

Redline... 93ish is also the end of 3rd probably 30ft short of end of track so I'm just holding it.

Hmmm, something seems really off then. The car had to be down on power. Are you running NH spec 91 octane? I think you'd benefit greatly from a few gallons of race gas tossed in there. My trap speeds rose by 3mph by adding race gas to my Volvo.

Stock clutch, it held the power well. I was told it would need to be replaced in 5-20k miles with the current tune.

Seat time.  If you want to see the full potential of the car, let someone who knows how to drive in a straight line drive the car and be a sponge.

I always like to make friendly wagers, had a guy approach me with a newer Cummins  ask for a race,  we raced and I barely beat him.  Next race we placed a wager of 100.    Here's the timeslip.

I'm sure you guys have driven a 15/16 wrx but if you haven't the shifts are very long which I think I would benefit from a short throw shifter. I've been using 93 but it's been Cumberland farms 93... I may try the race fuel thing this Friday, I just wanna see if I can hit that C&D 13.8, don't get me wrong they're professional drivers but still would be nice.

The number one thing you should do is continue to practice. It's a much better use of your time and money. embeer

Practice is hugely important. There are so many subtle details involved with drag racing and optimizing your existing setup before modifications come into play. Right now you're about 1 second off what that car can run, bone stock, long-throw shifter notwithstanding. I used to routinely beat heavily modified New Edge Mustangs when my 2002 GT was completely stock, often running a full second quicker because I was really systematic about playing around with launch rpm, clutch takeup technique, shift points, cool down periods, tire pressure, etc. etc.

If you post a time slip we might be able to give you some pointers if you're interested.  up

Kudos for having modest expectations. It's always better to expect the worst and beat those times than to expect greatness then realize you're way off the mark. I'm sure your car has easy 14s in it but it may take a little practice and the right air to get there.

Keep us posted.  up

Re: Went to the dragstrip today, slightly dissappointed?

I've already done the expect magazine numbers and then come out horribly disappointed with the 9-2x, and then after a half a dozen runs I got closer to what I expected.  I only had 3 runs on my VF setup and the 13.6@100 was the only run that felt good, the rest bogged like crazy.

If I get into the 14s I will be happy, I've seen the best results with people launching around 3k rpms and shifting around 6k.  Gotta minimize the wheel hop, not used to actually having torque, the 9-2x would bog with anything below 4.5k.
