Re: Ver7 swapped Desert Silver Aero

Did you ever get your stalling problem sorted out? I'd been having that same problem and fixed it a couple weeks ago by cleaning out my IACV really well with MAF cleaner and Q-tips. So far it's been stopping and idling great. Real easy piece of maintenance, but make sure you do it when the car is cold. Lots of threads about it around nasioc etc.

Re: Ver7 swapped Desert Silver Aero

So I finally acquired some 17" Aero wheels...I feel complete seeing as mine is a sports package car. They needed some love as they were off a northern car and had the onsets of corrosion and some curb rash. Luckily I have a good friend that works at a wheel shop and is able to breath new life into them, and boy do they look killer. Below is just one wheel's journey from ugly back to b-e-a-utiful.

Before

After the wheel was stripped and a look at some of the corrosion spots on the spokes before it was cleaned up!

Thats awesome. I just wax my BBS's every few months or so after a nice wash but that stuff seems pretty cool. Thanks!

Here's some in the sun! You can really see the sparkle in the silver.

Re: Ver7 swapped Desert Silver Aero

I picked up a new daily a few months ago and retired the Saab from active duty. She is now reserved for car shows and fixing up and getting a paint job. My new daily is a 2003 LL Bean Outback. Ive been fixing it up and its coming around. I love it though...its a completely different car than the Saab. No lowered problems with the Bean.

Re: Ver7 swapped Desert Silver Aero

I havent been on here in a very long time. This thred use to pop but man its such a pita to upload pics. I wish sites like this and nasioc would get with the times and figure out a way to have attachments vs using a host site.

Anyways, my aero has been in the garage for over a year. It started off with waiting for a custom set of 6/4 pot brakes that were massive and would require me to run 18" wheels minimum. So i sold my BBS wheels thinking the brakes would be done in a timely fashion. WRONG. I got tired of the dragging and slow progress and the inevitability that they werent going to happen. I ended up finding a killer deal on some wilwood 6/4 pot brakes that i couldnt pass.

Then I had someone want to buy my sti struts/cobb springs so i sold those, saved up $$ and ordered some fortune500 coils with swift springs. It took 2 months to get them. About that time, I had a buddy that wanted an sti TMIC for his wrx so i sold him mine bc I had been wanting to get rid of it for the new design of the mishimoto TMIC.

Then i figured while the TMIC is off ill do an IAG AOS so i picked one up. I also got a killer deal on an APS CAI to get rid of the cobb box that takes up so much room. But the CAI wouldnt fit with my AVO 1 piece inlet and I really wanted to get rid of the cobb box, so i decided to get an APS hard inlet. Around this time, my buddy was selling his APS CBE so i bought it for cheap to swap out my cobb exhaust (moving from cobb to APS now). But the dang CBE doesnt work with a cobb downpipe so i had to find an APS downpipe. Those are very hard to find but i did.

So now i have a gigantic pile of parts to put on.
-Mishmoto TMIC
-IAG AOS (needs a custom bracket for where im putting it)
-Moroso coolant expansion tank
-APS inlet (needs powder)
-APS CAI (needs powder)
-APS Downpipe (needs work)
-APS CBE
-wilwood 6/4pot brakes
-04 BBS wheels (Needs powder)
-Rear subframe

wish me luck. If youre on facebook, I have a page i made called Saab 92x owners worldwide. Its a work in progress but i have a few cool things id like to do there.  embeer

Re: Ver7 swapped Desert Silver Aero

I also have some big plans for the exterior of the car as well.   big_smile But Ill keep that under wraps until I can source the things i want. But they should def make my aero unique for sure.

Been considering those wilwood 6/4 pots myself. My big holdup has been the lack of dust boots on the pistons, so i'll be curious how they hold up for you with street use.
