Stock Aero Alarm

I assumed for a while that whenever I locked the doors to my Aero that the alarm was turning on, however I decided to check and see what it took to set it off and cant figure out anything that will.  I honestly do not think that it is arming.  I tried arming with the windows down and unlocking the door through the window ... didnt work.  I also tried rocking the car and hitting it with the side of my fist (in a way that it would not cause any damage) ... still did not work.  I want to know that the alarm works, so can anyone else give me any information that could help me to find out if it is working or not?

Re: Stock Aero Alarm

I believe you have to double lock to engage the alarm. I never used it yet but the salesman told me it was quite sensitive.

Re: Stock Aero Alarm

I never got the alarm to work. Started with me wanting to shut off the beep to arm/disarm. Did that by following the insturctions on the back of the key, but then i was messing aroudn with it, and somehow got it to turn off the blinking of the signals as well. Now whenever the key is out, a light on the cluster flashes the word alarm. I've been kinda lazy to read up about it, is there anyone who hasnt?

Re: Stock Aero Alarm

I set my alarm off the second day I had it.  I took the key off the remote because it was banging against the steering column and driving me a little crazy.  I then tried to use just the key to open my door later on and the alarm scared the crap out of me.  Took me a little bit to shut it off.  I put the remote back on the key.  I'm pretty sure you have to hit the button twice to arm the alarm.

LOL, exact same thing happened to me.  Took the fob off, left it in the car and locked the doors with the switch.  Came back, unlocked the driver door with the key and alarm sounded.

Re: Stock Aero Alarm

I believe your alarm is in the "Valet" mode. You could have the dealer turn it on as I believe it takes lots of coordination with the slamming of the door three times while you are turning the ignition on and off or something like that. Really weird stuff. Good luck. Mine worked from day one, because I wanted to make sure it had one before I drove off the lot. I live in a bad neighborhood.

Re: Stock Aero Alarm

Yeah, anybody who figures this out, please post.  I took the valet key (it's a surfing key here in Hawaii) into the water with me and set off the alarm when I came back.  Looked like a real ass in the parking lot.

Re: Stock Aero Alarm

Actually to set or  remove the valet mode it pretty easy. You just need to open the driver door and keep the 'UNLOCK/DISEARM' button pressed for more thant two secondes.  The indicator in your dash should flash two times per seconde.(That mean your are in valet mode)

If you don't put your alarm in valet mode and by mistake you lock your door using the dock lock. It will arm the system.

For those interessed this is the same alarm they can get has a option on subaru. Apprently is very easy to remove only two harness to disconnect. You can check on www.scoobymods.com www.nasoc.com

Re: Stock Aero Alarm

Holy thread revival.

Sitting for a year you say? Was it running when you put it away? Quality/ quantity of gas in the tank? I'm pretty sure fuse 16 under the wheel is the IGN/ fuel pump circuit. Start there. And probably read(google) some more, a lot more than you have. gl
