Ok, gripes about the 9-2x.

I love this car! But, with any car, there are small annoyances I've found:

1.Windows could roll up faster. (I'm impatient.)

2. I'd like express down and up on all of them. This is supposed to be euro luxury dammit!

3. All my friends shut these little doors way too hard. All it takes is a little push there to close 'em. Thank you.

4. Stereo doesn't play mp3s. It will get replaced anyway, but still, crappy $13,000 cars have this feature.

5. the headlights are dim

6.the stereo is dim.

7.special 9-2x floormats would have been nice. (Like the wrx.)

Anybody else got any?

Re: Ok, gripes about the 9-2x.

None of those things really bother me.  I wouldnt mind express down on all windows, but without safety sensors, express up isnt really practical. I wouldnt want to pay extra for something so minor though.  (could the express down switch be put in all 4 positions?)

In fully or partly down position, the windows wiggle quite a bit when closing the door.

That I can agree with, and now that I think about it, reverse does grind kind of easily if I am rolling at all (either direction) before its in gear.  I would also complain about the hesitation, but hopefully the accessport will cure that

Re: Ok, gripes about the 9-2x.

the stereo is my biggest gripe. i already ordered a new head unit so i can hook up my sub/amp.

that and the short armrest, although i am used to the arm rest now.

My gripe...stereo, no mp3!  I can live with the stock unit if it had MP3, and no controls on the steering wheel, you think a 28,000(sticker) car would have some fancy thing like that especially when its euro, even the mazda 3 has it!

i'm finding that the cabin is not sealed very tight. . . when the windows are up, water can still penetrate in between the glass and the gasket of the doors.

Seriously, very few cars even today can play MP3/WMA files.

Re: Ok, gripes about the 9-2x.

1)  Laggy engine down low and open/closed loop on/off power delivery in the mid to higher revs.  madmadmad  AP will fix this one which is my biggest beef!

2)  Hmmm, nothing else comes close to number one..

When I am driving, I keep looking for a sixth gear.  I'm ok with most other aspects of the car.  However, some of the nicities mentioned would have been nice additions.

I wish it had a 6 sp, a lower 3rd, lower 4th, a lower 5th and 6th right where 5th is. Wait! That's an STi 6 speed!

Yeah, it's laggy, and it appears that my car may need a reflash. Other than the crappy stereo and no express up on the windows, (and the rattling of them when part way down), no other gripes.

As for luxury (and less lag), if I really need that, I can get into my Audi.

Car reached break in milage yesterday, so I began to push it. It's quite fast, and handles well. Could use less roll, and man, the Bridgestone 011's are soft (and sidewall roll). Not as bad as RE 92s but for a performance tire, they're lacking. But I don't think of tires as a big obstacle, they wear out, after all
wink.

Re: Ok, gripes about the 9-2x.

wish rear windows rolled down all the way
wish seats stayed clean better
better floor mats
doors feel like tin cans
kinda chopppy acclerations, lag untill 5k
inside feels more like a subaru than a saab (obviously)
cant see the AC light
fog lights arent too bright
the thought that someone is going to try and put stupid rice-boy brake lights on a saab makes me ill

other than that, i love it smile

Re: Ok, gripes about the 9-2x.

Hmmm...I love the car minus the fact that since I have an auto the car is a DOG when I'm starting from a complete stop...

So embarassing to have my brother and his scion TC pull up to me and he knows he'll take me off the line... Oh well I'll probably get an AP and see if that helps....

I've accepted the fact that it's a subaru with a swedish nose job before I even bought the car so I all the things stated above would have been nice to have but I'm fine without them....

Re: Ok, gripes about the 9-2x.

I bet an up pipe with the AP would help the auto and the lag problem big time!  You can get a used up pipe for about $100.... but the installation is tough... I know I am going to need help.

Re: Ok, gripes about the 9-2x.

1. Sunroof controls suck. mad

2. lag off  the line. (but I can control this since I have a manual) wink

3. Wish the gas mileage was a little better (but I guess you have to pay to play wink )

4. Seat are not very comfortable.  - I really  noticed this the most when I sat in my GF's accord with leather this weekend.  Her seats are so much more comfortable.

5. Hissing noise of automatic climate control.

Other than these things I think everything else is perfect. wink

Re: Ok, gripes about the 9-2x.

Windows <feeling flimsy and the speed, or lack thereof, that they go up and down>
Interior as a whole <however, that's what you get when you want a pocket racer>
Huuuuuuge amount of lag <Cobb, the Up and downpipe, plus the STi exhaust might changet that>,
The shiftknob <wtf is up with the stock one, waaaay to small, the PCP ordered one is arrivign today>.
The radio is hard to read in sunlight/daylight,
Lack of gauges (every turbo charged vehicle IMHO should come stock with boost gauge),
Seat height, feels like I can't really get comfortable, feels like I am sitting a bit too high, if this feeling persists, in combination with lack of lateral support, I might opt for a racing seat, I really like a snug/close feeling.
Exhaust note, its sooo quiet, and even the turbo, its darn quiet....

I don't get the stereo comments, maybe I am less of an Audio freak, its serves my purpose.

However, I did drive the Saab back to back with my S4 (MTM chipped, so pushing about 310 horses orso) this weekend, when previously, when comign from my wife's passat, I was impressed with the S4's speed, now its just so-so. Only OFF-the line the Saab seems slower, on the twisties, its sooo much better handling than the S4.....I did a twice a nice 3,500 launch, that's awesome, feels really good, and yes, still in the break in period, however, NOT taking it easy, I just drive the vehicle as I would generally drive it....

So, just to make sure, these are NOT complaints, just things that I think Saab/Subaru could've done better

I LOVE this vehicle, still brings a smile on my face, I am really glad I opted for the red over the black, and the handling thusfar, as said, compared with the S4, has been very impressive, the tires haven't, but hey, they're all season, what can you expect. I am looking for either a set of 17/18s with pure summer tires shortly...

Re: Ok, gripes about the 9-2x.

-  Stereo is HORRIBLE on all levels  (HU, speakers, reception)
-  A/C SUCKS the bottom out of the car.  Launching with A/C is HORRIBLE!
-  +1 to the Climate control lights.  (Can't see in the sun)
-  Vinyl shift boot and E-brake boot????  You're kidding me, right?
-  Power seats would have been nice (and expected with a $30K MSRP)
-  +1 to the arm rest
-  You can really tell that the engine's capability has been limited with the stock set-up.

ALL DONE!

Most of the listed items will be fixed with a few mods.

Wind whistling noise (whatever you wanna call it) on the passenger side window, really annoying. Wondering if there is a TSB for this on the Subaru side already?

I've been in lots of Chevys and Fords that can play MP3s. A cheap way to make the car more attractive to buyers.

Example: Ford Focus.
