Re: MOPAR OR NO CAR! -ikbrown's 68 Charger

I've always loved MOPAR. When I was in my early twenties I built a 72 cuda 340, 284 purple shaft cam, toqueflight 727 3500 stall, 3.91 gears and the list goes on. Sold it and I've regretted it ever since. Fun cars!

Nice, love me a well done Cuda.  banana Ya it's definitely a fun car! Completely different experience from the Saabaru as far as driving but I love taking her out from time to time.

Thanks man! I'll ask my dad what the model of the lift is - he built the shop about 10 years ago around 2003-2004. The picture w/ the Saab wheels against the Charger is w/ the Saabaru all the way up - the shop has a barn style roof w/ a higher middle section to accomodate the lift & the garage door goes up at an angle so it avoids the hatch even when all the way up. And ya, I think I know what you're talking about w/ the internal lock - when you raise it up, it clicks every couple seconds so the car won't come crashing down. ha.

rx7 would be sick but a Cuda would be even more so! When I was in high school I was all about American muscle but this swedish pancake wrapped sushi roll we drive has converted me to enjoy turbos as well  driving

Hey Marty, took some pics of the lift setup while I was working on some projects. Looks like it is a Rotary lift w/ a global hydraulic system? Looking at the concrete next to the lift, we etched the year it was installed and it was actually put in, in 2005. In the last pic you can see the garage door/raised ceiling setup - as well as my lovely ramps to get Stella over the lift - and my dad's current project of restoring an old dresser.

LordZed is definitely spot on about the wheels. Staggered 17" OEM-style wheels are what belong on this car. Ditch the American Racing cheese shredders.

Also, please elaborate on the '66-'70 E-Type S2 2+2 making cameos on some of the pics. My dad and I are restoring a 1965 S1 FHC now.

As promised, found some photos of the Jag!

No video ... but my padre and I finally got around to adjusting the timing on her since it was off from when we had to remove the distributor to repair a wire harness which had developed a short. Running well and we left a little bit of rubber in front of their neighbor's on our post-timing-adjustment test drive.

Their neighbors also have some pretty sweet rides so they trade-off leaving rubber in front of each other's houses.  biggrin The two fellow car enthusiast neighbors have between them a 65 Mustang, 1978 25th anniversary Corvette, 63 split-window Corvette, LS swapped 39 Dodge, and in-progress LS6 swapped Model A.

Here's a teaser of the Model A in progress.  banana

Ya she's running really well now. First attempt at re-timing it wasn't advanced enough and was feeling a little uncomfortable when cruising at 2k (~50mph). Much better after the adjustment.

Re: MOPAR OR NO CAR! -ikbrown's 68 Charger

Took the Charger out to a show in Placerville recently! Met up with the owner of the black Charger before the show and parked next to each other to represent the 68 Chargers! I haven't been driving the Charger as much as I should be since it's at my parents place half an hour away from us but it was fun taking her out to a show - will definitely be doing more of it in the future! Coming from driving the Saabaru I forget how many looks, comments and attention the Charger gets when I drive it around town. Fun stuff!

Loved this Satellite. Would like to get a similar stance out of my Charger when we finish her. Was nice and low in the front but the back was around the stock height.

Re: MOPAR OR NO CAR! -ikbrown's 68 Charger

I'm new to the site... So I'll ease in by commenting on something i know and love. Old Muscle and MOPARS!!! I have mostly been around GM and Chevy's my whole life, but love Mopar. My daily is a Dodge Caliber SRT4, My winter car will be the Saabaru (just a linear model) i just got, and for nice weather I have this little father & son project,

http://i1301.photobucket.com/albums/ag105/CaliberNick/Other%20Cars/8A719EC4-9554-40AE-AABB-D2F0DE59F38B_zpsgpgk4igg.jpg

I see people commenting about the wheels, I would stick to some American Racing rims. There are a lot of nice kinds out there. Something like a torq thrust is always classic, but on a car like yours, check out the Vectors, Salt flats, or the AR500s. Unless you wanna look more retro-mod with a modern looking rim, then check out their nova or Burnout rims. The rims on our Camaro are also American Racing. They are the Hopster series, and make the car look like a 1:1 scale hotwheel.

Ya, as far as wheels I've always envisioned her on a wide set of wheels similar to the torque thrusts, I also like the look of the salt flats. Hence the Malibu and Satellite that I was drawn to at the show and posted pictures of had those style of wheels. Definitely not looking to go modern with the wheels though.

Your dad's e-type is beautiful. Perhaps top 5 most beautiful cars ever designed.

I haven't updated it in awhile so I can see why it would've gone under the radar. Thanks, I've really enjoyed the car and I've learned working on it. Love the looks it gets on the road and there's no replacement for a nice V8 rumble and the smell of burnt rubber mixed with musty muscle car interior smell. Haha. Lots more to do in terms of projects since the body work still needs to be done. That will be next once we save up some funds for it - hasn't been high on the priority list unfortunately but it's fun to take out in the condition it is now anyway.

Ya, my dad has a thing for beautiful but disfunctional british cars. ha.

Re: MOPAR OR NO CAR! -ikbrown's 68 Charger

Over Christmas, my friend and I coordinated a cruise with some of our friends that were in town and invited some guys I've met at car shows in the area. We had a great turnout at 15 cars, and we dubbed it the First Annual 'Cool December Nights' cruise! Probably already taken by something legit but I liked the ring of it. smile

Of the 15 cars there were 4 1968 Dodge Chargers which was fun! Chargers are generally like the Saabaru at a Subaru show in that there's rarely another one there unlike Camaros, GTOs, Mustangs, Corvettes, etc. so it was cool cruising and hanging with other B-body Mopar guys.

On to the pictures!!

biggrin ha, thought this forum would appreciate the wagon. It was pretty badass. Full restoration, crate motor and one of those aftermarket suspension kits which completely replaces the front end so it doesn't drive like a boat. I need one of those for the Charger  up

The rod behind it was that owner's car as well, his son was driving the wagon. Both were minty fresh.
