Re: Saabarus in Southern Michigan

I may have missed that.

Do they come From factory with camber bolts or are those only used as a service part if needed?

My battery finally needed changed.  Last one made it ten years amazingly. Drove It around on some
Errands to hit the hobby store for wood and clean up at the gf condo.

Re: Saabarus in Southern Michigan

I should have said that I know they have a cam bolt. I had one on mine (factory strut) when I pulled the lower bolts to replace an axle seal (had to remove the axle).

So, yes; from the factory the top bolt on the front struts will be a cam bolt to adjust the camber. If you know about it you can mark the position on the head of the bolt and tighten the nut holding the head in line with the mark before removal.

I found it as part number 901660036.
https://parts.subaruofwichita.com/p/Sub … 60036.html

That pic doesn't really show the camber though...
This is a bit better or search ebay on that part number https://www.oakos.com/901660036.htm

Re: Saabarus in Southern Michigan

For those of you who've done the struts...

Do the same assemblies from the equivalent WRX wagons do the job? What are people's experiences with the different brands? I've heard the Monroes are a bit boring but the KYBs can be too harsh for daily driving.

Sorry if these are dumb/much-covered questions. I'm seeing a bit of conflicting information out there.

I would love to see a repaved Geddes.

Re: Saabarus in Southern Michigan

KYB with original coil springs ride very similar to the original setup. They just don’t feel as refined. No experience with Monroe.

Re: Saabarus in Southern Michigan

Thanks for the tool offer Bentmettle! Might take you up on that depending on how many things I decide to do once the car's in the garage.

A repaved Geddes would improve my daily quality of life quite a bit...

Re: Saabarus in Southern Michigan

What kind of struts did those of you who've replaced them end up going for? Heard the mixed reviews for both the KYBs and the Monroes.

Re: Saabarus in Southern Michigan

I got the kybs.

Your welcome to stop by and drive it. I think they’re a little firm.

I’m fighting some mystery power steering leak that I thought I had fixed. Grrrr. Old car.

Re: Saabarus in Southern Michigan

Just saw I already asked the strut question forever ago but missed the replies. ugh. sorry. Really want to get this done soon if my coolant leak turns out to be a small fix and just have a fully functioning car for a while.

@bentmettle I think i still have some backup o-rings for the power hose lying around.

Re: Saabarus in Southern Michigan

thanks for the o-ring offer! I had a corroded return hard line on the rack that I cut back and replaced the rubber on.  I thought this would do the trick, but I havent gotten to look at it again
