Still going strong (twins)

Just thought I'd share that both 2005's are still going strong (there's at least something to be thankful for).  Both get nearly daily use - bought the the black manual a few years ago for son to drive to school, and liked it enough to search for another.  We located one in VA just over a year ago (silver automatic) which I take to work (it just topped 100k), though "borrow" the black when I'm feeling like it.  Nothing major to report, so hoping to get several more years out of them.  I enjoy this site, and find much good information!

Re: Still going strong (twins)

I think I took a good hard look at that silver automatic on car gurus right around the time you must have bought it. I like my aero in black but I have seen some crispy looking silver Saabarus on the road that have made me a little jealous.

Re: Still going strong (twins)

Probably the same one.  It's rust-free (or was - these NY winters are going to do it in), and my journey to get it involved train to NYC, Megabus to Washington and Uber to middle of nowhere, VA (where the car was left with the keys in it - no one there to meet me).  I got in, started it up, and drove back to upstate NY (heading out for this 18 hour trip was one of the "riskier/hope-and-a-prayer" adventures of my life, and it all turned out fine).  I still look at ads occasionally to see if there are still others out there (I've got my quota, though).  Fortunately I won't look back when older and say "I should have...", because I did (and my wife approved, which made it all possible!).

Re: Still going strong (twins)

I really like that Silver Aero, it looks great in silver.  I have a 2005 silver linear and a 2005 Red Aero, both are automatic.   I still haven't figured out how to post pictures on this forum yet, most of the other auto forums I use for my other vehicles have picture attachment icons to paste your photos to your post.  Anyway it must feel nice driving the manual shift Saab 9-2X Aero.

Re: Still going strong (twins)

The difference in acceleration is night and day (too much turbo lag with the automatic - it reminds me it's a 4 cylinder car).  The manual has power at all steps.  Of course, I could mod the silver one, but don't need to go there.  As for pictures, I tried to upload to a free internet photo site, but it got too complicated.  I went to Google Photos and saved it that way (which created an address I could post in the http:// box above) - if you have Google Photo, try that.

Re: Still going strong (twins)

Why not put a modified td04L turbo in tha automatic car and wake it up ? Do a 19t mod on the stock turbo, a catless up pipe, alloy crank pulley, 3 port boost controller and a tune. I bet you’d be all stoaked.

Forget Google Photo. https://imgur.com is click and drag simple. Don't even need to create an account. Right-click on the uploaded image, click "copy image address." Paste it here, select it, and press the "Img" button up above.

I had a 1999 Honda Prelude with a/t sport shift and I now have a 1999 Honda Prelude with manual,  in factory form the difference is like night and day.  Unfortunately the Lude is FWD but it's a fun little car and handles very nicely in factory form.

Believe me, I've looked at what I could do (thanks to this forum), have priced things, etc. - just not willing to jump into modding it (my manual only has an upgraded exhaust - otherwise that's original, too).  I had a chance to upgrade the automatic soon after getting it as I had to replace a catalytic converter.  NY State doesn't allow for purchase of aftermarket ones, but Vermont does (where my daughter goes to college), so with a little help from USPS I took care of that, but probably should have started doing mods then.  Don't encourage me too much, though, because I just may.

Yes, it worked.  Nice car (nice pictures, too) - looks VERY smooth/clean (though you may be getting the dreaded rust in rear wheel well starting??? - can't tell from that one picture???).  Red is by far the best color for a 92x (in my opinion).  As for the roof rack....eh, it's practical, but...    Are the picture from when you first got it/transported it home, or during a move, or...?  And are the others cars you were considering buying?

The silver linear is mine and the black Aero was a consideration.  My red Aero looks brand new inside and outside.   I got her this past July and I pulled her home with my Ford F350 DRW,  which is also red...it looked really cool pulling her home.  This leather interior is gorgeous,  the entire interior looks like it was totally replaced...including headliner, sunvisors, dome light, map lights, door cards,  and even the hardware looks brand new.
Yeah my silver Linear has the start of the rear quarter corrosion.

That's how it should be - someone taking excellent care of their vehicle so that, down the road, someone interested in that specific model comes across a pristine example.  Good for you, even as we envy your score!
