New member, WTB ( I know it's a long shot) 2006 aero

Hello all,

I'm a previous owner of a 2016 wrx STi and had to unfortunately sell it due to financial reasons. I stumbled upon this gem that I wished I knew about before. I miss my STi and can't afford to buy another one and was wondering if anyone had a 2006 92x aero that they would be willing to part with. Just looking for a stock ride that will give me the thrill of driving that the STi had. I wish I would have know about this car earlier.  banghead

Thank you all and have a good one

At this point you could just get a WRX sedan/wagon same year for about $1,200 more.

Yea,-fair enough didn't think about that, was hoping this route would give me more luxury and more of a leave me alone vibe from racer types. I got annoyed by the guys pulling up next to me always wanting to race. Besides I like the sti additions to the aero.

There are no STI additions to the Aero.  No, not the steering rack.

Re: New member, WTB ( I know it's a long shot) 2006 aero

Question then, is there any real benefit of a 2006 aero over a linear? I mean I know the engines are different and one is auto over manaul, but that's all I've seen. Also the linears are the only thing around me at this time. I see a few 2005 are and the upgraded engines and supposed sti steering racks being the changes. I do see a few 2005s, but they are modded just looking for a safe daily that can give me the zip of an sti for few moments of glee. Thanks again for honesty and answering me.

A Linear has no zip.  They can be made to handle very well, but unless your idea of thrills is "can I get up to merging speed before I run out of onramp?" it doesn't sound like the Linear is for you.

Re: New member, WTB ( I know it's a long shot) 2006 aero

A 2006 Linear has a little more power than a 2005 due to one of the variable valve timing systems, but I think it's only 173 vs. 165.  Also, Linear and Aero were both available with auto or manual.  The 2006 Aero had the 2.5 and a manual in that configuration will be extremely rare, mostly because there were fewer 2006 models made.  I've heard of more issues with 2.5 turbos than 2.0, but do your own research on that.  I've never had a turbo Subaru.

Either one would be a project in some way and made more difficult by the lack of available parts.  They are great, I think, but not without a commitment to making and keeping them that way.  If you are good with that, go for it, but otherwise, @itsnotmeitsyou has good advice.

the 2006 Aero is a great car. Sleepier than a WRX wagon but slightly better and sleeker. I've had one, loved it, especially with a Cobb AP flash
