Compression test results

I did a compression test on my 2005 Saab 92x linear today, The car has 126K. I was only able to test 1 & 4 because I was low on time.
The car has been sitting for about a month now, I’d start it once a week just to keep it alive but the last week it ran so rough I didn’t even want to start it again so I decided it was time for the compression test.
Cylinder 1- 180PSI
Cylinder 4- 110PSI

I’m guessing that it’s gonna need a new motor? Is there a chance it could just need head gaskets?

Not stoked about having to do a motor swap if that’s the case  sad

Re: Compression test results

Thanks for the info.  I have the same Saab.  What psi is considered normal?

Re: Compression test results

A 70 psi deviation between two cylinders is a massive problem. IIRC, the compression in a Linear should be ~175-195 psi.

Re: Compression test results

I’m thinking I should do a leak down test next. I don’t want to part ways with it but have so many projects right now. Is there a chance that theres a problem that doesn’t = the motor being toast?

The CEL is on for the filler neck, I was gonna get around to it eventually. The car started doing this thing around 120k, sometimes after I’d get gas the car would run really rough, no codes would pop up but it would almost feel like it was misfiring and would only do it sometimes, always within a day of filling my tank, then it would stop until I had to get gas again. It also started burning oil around the same time. at 125K it started misfiring, I had replaced the coil pack at 115k so I knew it was gonna need spark plugs eventually. I did plugs, wires, I replaced the valve cover gaskets and spark plug gaskets as well, it ran really well and the burning oil was from the valve cover gaskets so problem solved. Not even 1k miles later, the car started running like absolute shit again. She at the time was my daily so the same day I had to go out and buy a car that could get me where I gotta go, now I’m trying to fix it up so I can still drive it when I want to. After the compression test I’m really lost though, I was hoping I’d be something simple
