Hey guys! I failed to follow the bible verse in the book Compressions 8.5:1 "He who is without oil shall throw the first rod...".
SOOOOO the time has prematurely come for an engine swap!
I've been looking at a EJ206 JDM engine and I was wondering if it would be compatible with my current USDM 2006 Saab 9-2x 2.5i AT transmission (T21B4LC6AA).
If it is, what else would I need to make this possible? Transmission mods? what wiring harness would I need for it? this is a project that came much sooner than expected and time is against me now since I have nasty rod knock in piston 4 (the one closest to the driver on LHD cars)
Would a different engine be better for this project? I definitely want to turbo this thing.
please help me guys, this car is one I want to keep long enough to pass onto my children.
Thank you for any and all input!

Can your car get thru state inspection on a different ecu other than stock ?

I just gotta get emissions done first, which is due in December, after that I believe I'm good to go.
I'm just wondering if any EJ series motor is plug and play with my trans. I know I'll need a new ECU.

Yes, any ej will bolt on to your transmission. You may not be able to get thru inspection with a different ecu.

Yeah where are you located?

So I have an update, and realized that the EZ36D exists and there are supercharger kits for it since it can handle the boost
I'm going to do this swap instead. But only after I get my Saaburu up and running again.
So for now, I need a replacement EJ253 since I went full send and a rod went to heaven. I'll do the H6 swap after I pay off my car.

A Tribeca motor? With 260hp/247tq? Interesting proposal, but sounds like a big headache. Supercharging it would be an even bigger headache, although the Raptor kit is relatively simple looking.
Swapping a Linear over to Aero (turbo'ed) spec is no small task, either - I imagine they are equally difficult. Wiring in the different ECU is going to the the nightmare here.
Supercharging a used EZ36D looks like about a $7000 project, too. On a car that's worth about $4k...

That's my goal. It might not be worth it in terms of money but I want to keep this car forever.
The wiring is gonna be a be a Stephen King novel, but I am already looking into how it's done since this swap has been done on a 2006 Subaru Impreza 2.5i once before and I'm using his guide to get it done.
But I need something for winter drifts before the snow comes to Chicago.
What EJ253s are plug and play for my 06 2.5i? Or is it only my year?

I think only an '06-'07 NA motor will be PnP.
