Showing you people my new 2005 9-2x at NorCal

I also put this on a thread on general discussion but this seems like an appropiate place.
Does anyone recognizes it? I just got it at an auction at SF bay and according to CARFAX it has spent his life in California. Has a little more than 92k miles on it.

Hey man, congrats on the purchase and welcome.  embeer

Are you living in NorCal or did you just buy it from auction here? Looks like you've got the fairly common issue of clear coat degrading on the plastic part of the hatch and spoiler and driver seat could use some love but other than that looks good. Make sure the timing belt service has been completed since that is overdue if it hasn't been done.

I'm living in Davis, so It is a two houw drive from SF. I tried to contact the seller to find out about if the timing belt has been done but they don't know. I will do that a soon as possible to be sure. I don't understand why is the service log booklet empty!

Do you know if the timing belt change can be done by any mechanic or does it need to be a subaru specialized one?

I don't think anyone puts service records in the service booklet, so finding one that does have it in there is very rare.

I would not use any old mechanic.  Make sure they have worked on Subarus before and are familiar with them.

Right on, I'm in Fair Oaks, half hour or so outside of Sacramento. Yea, that is strange. I would say if he doesn't know if it's been done then it hasn't been done. It's not like he would've just taken it in for a small service and had that added in without his knowing. It's a $600-1k service depending on where you go so I think he would've known if he had that done.

The service itself could be done at any reputable shop but it honestly wouldn't hurt to have it done at a Subaru specific shop since you just bought it so they can also look for the other common subie issues they are well aware of so you know what will need addressing on the car in the future. For Subaru questions specific to the area I'd recommend getting on i-club.com which is the forum a lot of the subie guys use in Norcal.

As far as shops that work on Subarus in our area I think there is one in Downtown Sac, Subaru Specialists or something like that. FW Motorsports in Rocklin, M45 in Aubrun, and EQ Tuning in Fairfield. Not aware of any in Davis specific to Subarus.
