Seems like the price is high

Hi gang -

I am new to this forum, but have owned a Suburu WRX STI, Subaru Legacy, Saab 9-5 Aero, 2 - Saab 9-3 Linear and a Saab 9-3 Linear Convertible.   I am now interested in buying a 2006 9-2x Aero with MT and relatively low mileage (about 88k) from a dealer in MD.  I live in Raleigh and could drive up there in about 5 hrs to test drive the car.  The dealer is advertising the car for 10k which seems high compared to the prices I am seeing from real users on this site.  The car is advertised as 1 owner and no accidents reported.  The car is on CarGurus if you are interested in pictures.

Does this car seem like it is a little high priced?  What would be a "normal" price for this car?

Thanks in advance for any comments.

Re: Seems like the price is high

I bought my bone stock 06 aero MT about a month ago for $8k with 120k miles.  So in my opinion 10k isn’t that far off. I’ve found it’s hard to put a “normal” price for these cars since they’re pretty unusual. Also, it is reaalllllyyyyy difficult to find any 06 aero in good condition.

Re: Seems like the price is high

Keeping in mind that dealer prices will be a little higher than what you see listed for sale direct from an owner I don't think that's out of the realm of reasonability but I would think $9k would be a better buy. If the car's in good condition and has had the timing belt done and you enjoy it, see what you can get the dealer down to.

Re: Seems like the price is high

Most dealers have no clue what these cars really art.  They prob just through $10k out there to see if it would stick.  I would def offer less.  Remember...it was traded in or bought at auction.  I doubt they paid a lot.  It is 12 years old after all.

Thanks for the feedback!  I think I will drive up to Maryland and test drive it.  If it drives nice and shows no rust I will offer $8k and see what happens.
