I can't wait for more options to become available. The options are so limited right now, it blows.
The field of practical EVS is expanding. Model 3, Bolt and Leaf 2 all will have ~200 mile range and cost ~30K and go on sale this year.
Looking at that article photo makes me pissed that they don't offer the V40 here any more. That's a nice looking wagon.
On Volvo meeting this goal... I'll believe it when I see it. Right now their hybrid offerings are limited to 1 engine in the US and 2 overseas. The hybrid doesn't really do a whole lot for the XC 90.
A few years ago they said they were moving to an all 4cyl platform, and they met that goal. Even though engines are called the T5, T6 and T8, they are twin turbo or turbo/ supercharged 4cyl.

Yeah, it's definitely expanding and the ranges are getting better, which I like. I just want more in SUV/wagon form, like the plug-in Mitsubishi Outlander that's been selling for years and really well overseas, but for some unknown reason they keep stalling releasing it in the US. There are a lot of plug in SUV's (mostly luxury), but with a ~13 mi range, what's the point?

Also, anyone who doesn't like the way an electric motor drives is on drugs. The only thing not to like is no engine noise and no manual trans. I agree, it's very odd that Toyota who made the Prius has dragged their feet. The Prius Prime is ugly and doesn't have adequate range.

Right, if they had both an EV Corolla and a standard ICE auto trans Corolla I'm sure the EV would be more enjoyable to drive for what it is. Always hate how sad and strained an economy car 4-banger sounds.

Not all eco-4 cylinders sound bad. I like the sound of the SkyActive 2.0L Mazda motor. In both my 3 Hatch and my dad's Miata.

Semi-on-topic, any opinions on the Spark EV? My wife found a used one locally and wants it more than I wish she did.
Offline
Someone on here has one and liked it. I replied to his thread awhile back asking for an update and what he was going to go to next but no response. The electric version is way better than the ICE version of the Spark from what I've read.
What's the range on those? Sufficient for what your wife needs?

They only get like 83 miles of range, but they have a ridiculous amount of torque and are supposed to be fun to drive.

This is also an interesting article showing 0-60 gives an unfair advantage to non-EVs.

Same here. Loads of torque, I leave mine in eco mode which gives a squishy accellerator feel so I don't end up buying new front tires every year
On a full charge, no ac, I'm getting about 93 mile in-town range with battery health at 83%. About 87 miles with ac on. Less with more spirited driving. Much less on hwy, range is about half @70mph, a little better if you slow-poke it.

While the Sapark EV may have a motor capable of 400 ft lb, i have yet to see a dynongraph showing this.

I just found out you can pull your original window sticker:

Funny that you found that. I just found a site that does that for multiple cars and did it on my GTI today, since it didn't come with the sticker.
Also saw a Leaf the other day with a plate that said "BBYE GAS"

I've just heard the same for most other 'compliance EVs' in that it doesn't have the greatest range and that it compromises some in adapting a regular ICE car for use as an EV.
I really like how it looks though since it just looks like every other Golf out there.

I've heard they drive nicely, just like a regular Golf would. Fit and finish should be better than most other EVs as well. It would definitely be my choice were it not for its mediocre range.
i3's are supposed to be a ton of fun to drive. I actually kind of like the styling and love the interiors, but wouldn't be able to be seen driving one. They can be had pretty cheap used or leased... plus Larry David drives one on the new season of Curb.

This is pretty much what I was going to say. I'm seeing eGolfs go for a considerably higher price for a comparable used Leaf

The egolf is the only full electric car ive ever driven. A friend in california has had his for over 2 years.
It was fun to drive and i think the golf handling and styling are definitely a plus. Probably over priced though...
They are supposed to be making the range a little better with the new improved model eGolf.

So, at first, I looked at this post and was about to type something snarky about why is this here... until I looked a little closer. I can't believe that's my car! Nicely done! Wow, breathed life into her again. I'm glad the project worked out (and that you found this thread). Ha. If you have pics of the process, I'd be interested in learning more about the build. Great front end swap.

Is the color of the front clip a shade off or is that just me?

I see it, too; whether that is typical plastic vs metal comparison, or actually a different paint code, is hard to say. Also, the hood to bumper/fascia gap is a bit large. Perhaps the hood is not fully latched (but if so, I'd expect worse alignment at the fenders).
Still, a remarkable job considering how pyro left it....
Offline
Originally I was like wtf has this got to do with Pyro's thread? Now I'm impressed the new owner cared enough to post pics of his fix and conversion.
Offline
The paint was color matched it didnt look to bad in person but i didnt use the blending technique since i didnt want to repaint the doors but the hood and bumper ended up lining up perfect hood latch and bumper just needed to be adjusted a bit. I'll explain everything about the build. so I bought the car and started freaking out because parts were too expensive so i got this. I was going to use the front clip but I started to feel bad taking this new donor apart since it only had 90K miles on it BTW there was no body damage at all on the donor except for a scuff on front bumper but a body shop tore it down and sent it to the auction. which by the way I was probably one of the luckiest guys since i bought this literally the next day after i bought the first saab. All it was missing was the rear door. So I turned the donor in to this
The pics are after i gave it one hell of a detail. So to continue with the story I purchased Another donor this one was rotted out. The rear strut shot thru the trunk. Lady I bought it from only had it 6 months the dealership had done all sorts of tricks to hide all the rust.
