Re: New to me...2005 OBXT

Very Nice, I was looking for those before I got into the saabarus. They're pretty rare and aging similarly to the saabs. Sadly I missed an 07 in white with 41k on it, 5mt. I still feel sad thinking about it... Couldn't find any more with a manual and in decent condition. Congrats, I've always loved the heft and size of the legacy outback.

Congrats on the purchase, good looking Outback! I'm secretly happy you bought that instead of a Baja XT, I don't quite see the appeal in those. Hope it suits your family well!

ha never!! I just think they're a bit on the ugly side and while interesting probably wouldn't be all that useful in ute form vs. a wagon. I do appreciate old Subaru's boldness in actually selling that car though.

They definitely have a different look.  My wife always rolls her eyes when I point one out (I always point out WRX's, Baja's, and older Subarus everytime we drive somewhere lol)  To me the Baja would be more useful because I like to mountain bike so I could easily mount bikes in the back and not have to worry about a roof.  Just depends on what you would use it for.

Yes...it has been dealer maintained since new.  The finance guy there bought it as soon as it was traded in...his wife didn't like it so he put it for sale.  All major maintenance has been done.  banana

Congrats! No offense, but that shift knob is hideous. You need to get the factory one back.

Re: New to me...2005 OBXT

That Momo shift knob is a factory option, they get skin burning hot, I had a similar 5 speed Momo, had to learn to be carful with it when parked exposed to the hot sun.

eek

I don't think I would event want to limp to the dealer like that.  I hope they cover the repairs... should not happen, especially 2 days after purchase.

Re: New to me...2005 OBXT

The tech said the belts were replaced 60K ago and the Tbelt done 15K ago...so 18 months ago the belts may have looked ok.  Sometimes the belts ribs get warn enough they will walk over.

I did not buy it directly from the dealership...I have 2 options:

1: tow to dealership and have them do it for $180
2: change the belts myself

not too upset...got to drive the saaabaru to work  driving

Why are you grabbing two sets of struts/springs? And in lowering an Outback to lowered Legacy height is there anything else you need to consider for getting camber to spec?

Re: New to me...2005 OBXT

To try out which I like better then sell the other.

I will be adding Subtle 1" lift spacers, so I should be about only lowered 0.5" or so

I understand lowering if when you are going for performance.  I just don't understand lowering vehicles that were designed to have ground clearnace (aka trucks, SUV's etc.)
