Rear brake rotor/disk dimensions

Hello friends from the other side of the pond,
I am relying on your extensive knowledge, since we are few Saabaru owners here in Europe! confused

I want to change my rear rotors (we call them disks!) and pads, and was going to order the parts online. However, looking at the dimensions posted on most online stores (for a Subaru Impreza station wagon 2.0 turbo/WRX) they seem to be suggesting a rear rotor with a 290mm diameter, but I thought I should go and check before ordering, and mine seem to be more like 266.

Even in the 266 picture (below), the disk thickness is stated as 18mm, and measuring mine, it seems more like 10mm. I can't believe I've lost 8mm of thickness through braking!

If I get the 290x18s, surely this is not going to work with my current brake setup? I don't want to replace calipers too.

The car is pretty much standard - the original owner didn't change anything.

Any input gratefully accepted!
Thank you. Pics below:

I just found this website which looks like they have something more like what I found on my car: http://brakeparts.co.uk/#!/shop/SUBARU/ … ms/BDG4822
But is it possible that this is a product that the previous owner's garage fitted, which is "wrong"?? (even if it's worked fine for me the last 4 years) 'cos they are suggesting 2000-2005, which is not the right car, is it?
What do you all have on the rear axle? Thanks.

What you measured and see on the other site are correct- you can check Autozone.com or http://www.oreillyauto.com/ for more info

Pull the Saab parts from either of those listings and I think you can cross check them against your brakeparts.co.uk site.

Re: Rear brake rotor/disk dimensions

If you are swapping out rotors and pads then why not take this time to do an H6 upgrade?
Example of kit (may be others much cheaper?) : http://www.fastwrx.com/products/subaru- … -02-05-wrx
How to do it: http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=522006

Re: Rear brake rotor/disk dimensions

Cheers guys. Weird, I'm finding these parts listed under Subaru Forester 2.5L. But this is all part of the fun, right? First you have to FIND the part, the easy bit is fitting it haha!

Yup, upgrade is basically stock bits for a forester.  But it's an easy bolt on upgrade and will help with some of that stock front brake bias.

Re: Rear brake rotor/disk dimensions

Salut Paul,

Il me reste un jeux de disque arrière dans mon sous-sol que je viens de mesurer.  Ils mesurent 10,5 pouces, soit 266 mm, comme sur les tiens. Tu devrait trouver ceci en France en utilisant les references de WRX.

A plus,

Arnaud
