Cobb AccessPORT Maps for CA

(repost from the regional forums since these are more widely read)
anyone else in CA with an AP?

I just got mine in yesterday and am on the stage 1 91 octane map - but then I noticed the CA-specific 91 octane map - not sure what the differences are

I generally stay with the name brand (shell, cheveron, 76) 91 octane and through my first 100 mi I have not experienced any pings or knocks

thoughts?

Re: Cobb AccessPORT Maps for CA

will cars in any state pass emissions testing on a map other than the stock one???

i know in NH, we (well not me) are testing for OBDII emission testing, starting next year.

Re: Cobb AccessPORT Maps for CA

I would revert to stock if possible - the cobb AP disables certain CEL checks so I'm pretty sure other ECU tuners do the same...

Re: Cobb AccessPORT Maps for CA

I thought I heard that the CA map came about because of a few reported issues with cars in CA.  I think it's a more tame version of the regular 91 octane map.

Cobb's forums will have the answer for sure.

Re: Cobb AccessPORT Maps for CA

From what i understand people were getting pings and knock when running the 91 octane maps in CA because of poor gas quality.  To combat this cobb made CA specific maps.  Im pretty sure it was said by cobb that if you are not having issues dont worry about it the regular map should be fine, the refined (tamed down) map is for those that were having problems. Sounds like you should be ok.  Maybe norcal is better than socal.
