I've already done the expect magazine numbers and then come out horribly disappointed with the 9-2x, and then after a half a dozen runs I got closer to what I expected.  I only had 3 runs on my VF setup and the [email protected] was the only run that felt good, the rest bogged like crazy.

If I get into the 14s I will be happy, I've seen the best results with people launching around 3k rpms and shifting around 6k.  Gotta minimize the wheel hop, not used to actually having torque, the 9-2x would bog with anything below 4.5k.

I always had my best 60ft times launching relatively powerful fwd cars at just above idle, in the 1,800 or lower range. Once you get wheel spin/ wheel hop your run is shot. I'd do what I could to basically dead hook at light throttle and then rapidly roll into the throttle being careful not to overpower the tires. Definitely takes a lot more work to get off the line cleanly in a fwd car, but with practice,  you should be able to see consistent 2.1s and 2.2s on street tires. Fwd sucks for drag racing but you'll still be quicker than a lot of the over-exuberant  jamokes out there with zero finesse.

Haha, we've all been one of those jamokes, just takes practice and good control of your adrenaline to get past that.  up

I realized I'm one of those jamokes at auto-x this year.  But then I thought about it and realized I was there for fun, not to quality for nationals.  So if my somewhat sideways line isn't pretty, idc cause I'm going for smiles/$.

What should be ideal TP for my car? I launched at like 4500 and slipped and ran a 15.7.

What was your 60'?  What were your tire pressures?

Re: Went to the dragstrip today, slightly dissappointed?

Honestly tire pressures shouldn't be that important with an awd car. You have more traction than you'll know what to do with even with off-the-street tire pressure. It should all come down to launch technique.

I'm car 646....642 was a 15 wrx with muffler delete and cold air intake. Traction off launched at like 4500 shifted at 6000. My thought is the biggest two parts of the time was 1. It was 55 out and 2. I ran with only a 1/4 of a tank.

arrow-up actually your generation of S60 is a little bit a Ford (more the other way around in reality, think Taurus, Exploder, Flex and MKX and the new Continental. Still wondering what Ford'll do for large platform vehicles when the tooling wears out)

Re: Went to the dragstrip today, slightly dissappointed?

Bump. Has anyone else gotten runs in lately?

I'm disappointed by the fact that my plan to run in cold air has been stymied by my car accident. I'm not sure if the S60 will be out of the body shop in time to hit New England Dragway before the season ends. By the time spring rolls around it will likely have a few mods done. I was hoping to see if I could hit 13.2 bone stock.

Sorry to self-quote but I'm on my iPhone and this saves a lot of finger-pecking:

Crashed my once near-flawless new-to-me Volvo on my way to work this morning. I was I the left lane of a two lane city street and a kid in a ricey old civic hatch popped out of a side street in front of me, then violently cut the wheel to attempt a lefthand U turn from the right lane, cutting directly across my path. I slammed on the brakes but there was no way to stop in time and I tagged him hard in the rear wheel/ quarter panel area.

The good news is I helped him take his camber game to the next level.

Here's how my car looked:

Sorry to hear,  doesn't look to bad.  I assume you will get all new parts?  I highly doubt junkyards would have anything.

Re: Went to the dragstrip today, slightly dissappointed?

SUCKSsssss. At least you can still have humor bout it with the camber improvement mod you performed on the Civic. What an idiot! Any pics of said camber mod? Hope you're able to get this fixed quickly!

When my wife and I were leaving an event a couple weeks ago I left the parking lot behind some SUPERRR slow driving older person. To get on the freeway from the parking lot you have to make a right, then a U-turn.. This person went into the right lane of the turn lanes (his just turns left only, mine turns left and U-turn ... per standard operating procedure). Long story short, he goes for a u-turn from the further turn lane, cutting me off in the process. Luckily I sorta assumed this person was completely in their own world and was going to make the u-turn in front of me so I was able to give them room, but damn! You just can't keep up with the crazy and oblivious driving of others sometimes.  confused
