Anyone install the Subaru subwoofer

I just closed the deal on my 92x Silver, Auto (currently drive stick - Ugh wife), Sport & Cold. Got the dealer throw in $300 in accessories. But I did notice that the subwoofer (My buddy has one on his 93 WRX wagon) is not included with SAAB radi0. Has anyone installed this? I have googled prices from $100 to $200 for the subwoofer depending on the model. Is there much difference between the years? How hard is this install? Can it be done on the SAAB seats?

If the $100 - $120 units work seems like a great accessory.

I found this at one site - whats the difference
H6300SS202  Subwoofer/Amplifier, 120 WATT WRX/STI/Impreza 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005  $235.00  $104.00
H630SSA200  Subwoofer/Amplifier, 120 WATT, Forester 2003, 2004, 2005  $230.00  $104.00
H6300FS400  Subwoofer/Amplifier, 120 WATT, Forester 2000-2002  $230.00  $108.00
H6300SS600  Subwoofer/Amplifier, 120 WATT, Impreza (RS sport, STi, WRX) 2005  $188.00

Also anyone know what are 6 speakers included with SAAB Aero?

Re: Anyone install the Subaru subwoofer

I have it in the wrx i am trying to sell and personally i dont think its worth it.  Yes its flat but it doesnt provide very good bass, my friends usually cant even realize i have one even when i turn it all the way up.  Personally i think you would be better off putting 300bucks into a good subwoofer.  Admittingly the fact that it goes under the front seat is nice though, doesnt waste space or get messed up, but seriously, my friends couldnt even feel a vibration on the pass. seat when it was on. FWIW

Re: Anyone install the Subaru subwoofer

Someone from nasioc have made a enclosure sub that go under the seat of a STI. It very nice, and should provide space for a decent sub.

Re: Anyone install the Subaru subwoofer

I ended up replacing the entire stereo system due to the poor quality of the components.  I was getting a weird vibration from the front passenger side speaker and when I removed it to inspect, I was shocked by how cheap the speaker was.  It has no weight to it at all on the magnet was about the size of a quarter.  Sub-par for even a stock stereo system if you ask me.

Anyway, I'm not a bass-head but I did want a little more bass than the door speakers were providing so I added a 100 Watt Bazooka Tube.  There are times when I need all the trunk space I can get so being able to easily remove it was a necessity.  To get it out takes me about 15 seconds, I simply pull the connector plug that comes with the unit and release it from the 2 nylon straps that secure it to the floor.  The clean bass I get from it rounds out the system nicely.

The problem with under seat installs in our car is that it really eats up foot room for rear seat passengers. When I sit in the back of my car my the front of my feet go under the front seat.  I had a small amp under my passenger seat to power my door speakers but it ended up taking up so much foot room that I removed it.

Should also add that the tube ran me about $200.

Re: Anyone install the Subaru subwoofer

I need a subwoofer that does not take away any of the space in the back. That is why I was interested in the under the seat subwoofer. I have a dog so I want to keep the wagon clean in the back.

Re: Anyone install the Subaru subwoofer

Yeah, it's tough....with a small car you're going to end up stealing space from someone.  Putting a speaker under the rear seat will make anything but a short drive totally miserable for a rear seat passenger with average sized feet.  How big is your dog?  My tube is pushed all the way up against the rear seats and there is still a good amount of space back there.  Do you lay the seats down when you haul your dog?
