Re: Saabaru Badges

Got mine today. Looks good, will have to wait for warmer weather to apply one.

Re: Saabaru Badges

Quick update, I installed one on the front, but I had some traces of blue left from the old badge that would not flake off that came through on some of the clear sections. The look bothered me a bit so I peeled the Saabaru badge of, which proved to affix strongly to the old badge. So here is my install tip. Get some 220 grit sand paper and rub the remaining blue off, it will also create a uniform satin finish underneath. Be careful around the edges so you do not hit the clearcote on the hood\hatch.
It started snowing, so I havent had a chance to put the other badge I ordered on, but I will be doing this tomorrow and will post some pics, along with ordering another badge due to my own impatience  facepalm. As a side note the blue is a shade lighter than the original Saab badge, so it will contrast a bit more off the navy body color.

Re: Saabaru Badges

Finally did my rear today.  This one required a little heat from the wife's hair dryer to lay flat.

Re: Saabaru Badges

I put my decals on last night and they look sweeeet!  I was thinking of a little spray of clear coat just to make sure the edges don't come free.  Plus I have the clear coat and I heated the shop up - so should I?  Thanks, limequat!

You're welcome!  Have any pics?
I'd actually say no to the clear.  There's a chance that the clear won't stick well to the vinyl, or could even eat it a bit.

If you want to try it though, and it goes bad, I'll replace the decal for free.  Just post pics of the carnage smile

My son is planning to wrap my wife's  92x soon.

She's going with matte white.

He measured the car this weekend and has priced out the materials (less than $500).

We're hoping he can do it this month.

Oh my GOD... is this done yet????  I MUST see pictures of this   eek

Got my stickers yesterday (super fast!) so now if it ever stops raining for more than a couple hours I'll put them on. Yay Seattle springtime!

Re: Saabaru Badges

I now have badges available for center caps and steering wheels.  These are printed on silver metallic vinyl so you  don't have to worry about the previous badge showing through.  The hood/trunk badges are also available printed on silver metallic vinyl.

http://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j71/Limequat/Lime-Swap/100_0544.jpg

Pricing is as follows:

Hood / Trunk Badge:  $10 Each (Clear or silver vinyl)
Steering Wheel Badge:  $8 Each
Center Cap Badge: $20 set of 4
Full Vehicle (2 Hood/Trunk, 1 Steering, 4 Center Cap): $40

Re: Saabaru Badges

I just took home my new (to me) 05 Aero 5spd today and went straight to the Googles to look for badge replacement solutions. Sir, I tip my hat to you for such an awesome replacement! I just ordered two blue ones and I'm anxiously awaiting their arrival. Have any good install tips for longevity?

They're are in the mail!  The standard instructions are printed on your invoice, but I think everybody has there own twist smile  You must have a clean surface for adhesion.
When I did my front badge, I just cleaned it with vinegar and paper towel and it stuck down perfect.  I did the same in the rear, but I had to work out some wrinkles using my wife's hairdryer.

Getting the old emblem off can be a pain.  I used an exacto to get underneath it and pop it off.  Some here have used sand paper.
I just got in a shipment of emblems that are printed on silver vinyl so you don't have to worry about this step.  I prefer the originals though, so you get the full luster of the chrome.

Re: Saabaru Badges

Sounds like a plan. Thanks again and I'll let everyone know how the install goes.

Re: Saabaru Badges

Finally got mine installed!  It was a serious pain getting the back badge off since it was only partially chipped off but it ended up looking good!

Looking good Cruseydr!  What did you use to get the rest of the old badge off?
