Gauges Gauges

1. Autometer Nexus
2. Defi-Link Meters
3. Omori Gauges

All matched our interior quite nicely. Help me decide!!

Re: Gauges Gauges

Omoris are a pretty discrete fit...

What are you looking to get?  (Manifold pressure & Pyro ?)

You can probably mount any one of those in the position that the Omoris are.  That's a little more stealthy than an a-pillar or crash-pad mount.

The ricer 6" tac on the a-pillar is a turn off for me...  JMO though

Boost + oil press in imperial, and oil temp in si. Is that possible with one controller (assuming it's electrical)?

For gauges I'd like to show them off a bit, so I will use the center pod where the clock is.

Re: Gauges Gauges

I would go with Defi or Apex'i (I know, not one of your original choices...).  I'm getting one or the other eventually.

No one likes Autometer Nexus? Check out the flash demo, looks pretty darn cool. I agree Defi is higher quality though.

Re: Gauges Gauges

These guys have a decent selection of gauges - http://www.hopupracing.com/guages.html  As well as some good prices here - http://www.mvpmotorsports.com/Templates … SearchYN=N  Down the bottom on the Apex original style EL1 - fair price.

Re: Gauges Gauges

Summit Racing has the VDO Vision gauges and a huge selection... I read a thread on some forum where someone compared the gauge illumination between a lot of different companies and the VDO's were the closest match to the Subaru's (Saab 9-2x's) cluster. That's what I'm planning on running, but I've got too many projects right now so I'll be waiting a few more months at least.

Re: Gauges Gauges

Which VDO series matches our cluster? Is it through the dial or reflective illumination?

Re: Gauges Gauges

I got the Defi Link-Meter Gauges.

With the lights off, they look identical to the stockers (Black face, white letters, brushed alum ring).

They light up green just like the stockers.

I use the Autometer dual guage cluster pod.

I do NOT like that the light intensity cannot be changed.

I do like that I can set a 'MAX' boost / EGT (the 2 gauges I got) with the Control Box, and it WARNS me if I exceed the value I set (This is important with the UTEC, as I set the boost to 17, but since the temp has dropped 20 deg since then, it might 18 or so).

I also like the record feature, you can 45 seconds of gauge movement, so you can analyze each 'run'.

They are expensive though.  ~$750 for 2 gauges and the control box.

Re: Gauges Gauges

When teh time comes, I'm going to try and get some Saab VDO units.  Back in the 80's for the (original) 900 and the  9000, there were VDO's (kind of like the Visio I guess?) that had SAAB imprinted on them.

Can't seem to find a pic right now ...

Can any one confirm if the VDO gauges light up green? Also where's a cheap place to buy the column mount boost gauge? My Autometer oil pressure and volt gauge crapped out on me  mad

I'm getting Omori.  High quality and OEM look.   cool cool  I'm not a big fan of the lumpy "visor" that some 3-pods have, so I want this pod...

Re: Gauges Gauges

for anyone looking to get something that matches the interior for cheap, Autometer Sportcomp matches very nicely and looks stock.

Obligatory sig with extensive power mod list for greater respect:
-JDM oil pan, JDM dipstick, STI oil pickup and baffle plate for ultimate oil flow, STI midpipe for uber power gains.
-WetOkole front seat covers for ass sweat stains
-Drawtite hitch (no wiring) for a bike and a trunkmonkey for shits and giggles

Re: Gauges Gauges

I was considering Autometer Sport Comp but I've heard the boost gauges in that line up are pretty inaccurate.  I think there's a post on NASIOC somewhere where someone tried out like 10 of them and the majority of them were off by a non-negligable amount.

I'm thinking of going either with Omoris or MadDad's gauges.  The MadDad ones look awesome from the pictures and are getting rave reviews over at NASIOC.  The "series 2" ones aren't available in WRX green yet though but should be for sale starting next month I believe.
