Re: 9-2x The Gun Thread

My PPS would do that some times when it was new, but only when I slingshot the slide.  It just means that the tolerances are a little too tight with your chamber locking into place with the frame and slide..  You should always clean and lube a firearm when it's new.  Sometimes there are bits leftover from the machining in there still.

Re: 9-2x The Gun Thread

My NFA paperwork was approved today.  Only a couple more days to wait for the suppressor!

On another note, my PPS broke, the slide stop cracked.  I sent it back, long story short they PPS is out of production for the next 9 months, so they sent me a S&W instead.  Had the LGS take the gun into their inventor as new, and walked out with a new CZ 75 P-07 DUTY in OD green:

And I got a badass holster fromt his guy:

His work is really nice.

Apparently Saudis do not follow the 4 rules of handling a firearm.

On a side note, shooting into the air during celebrations is quite popular in many middle eastern cultures. Unfortuneately this has also been an area of misunderstanding with several incedences of pilots firing on civilian celebrations thinking they were either fired upon or in an engagement.

He guys, So im sick of taking the glock 19 with me as its too cumbersome and heavy. I have been looking at several compact 9mm and think i have settled on the Keltec PF9 or P11. What do you think? Have any of you shot these?

The Keltec PF9, is a fine weapon. Small for conceal carry which is nice. I got the larger clips with the extension. Makes it a better feel when gripped.  I have but about 500  rounds though it without any issues. The dual action trigger safety is nice, you can have a round in the chamber and not worry about you shooting yourself in the balls.

Re: 9-2x The Gun Thread

I am not new to guns but not as knowledgable as I would like to be.
Hopefully that is going to change fast due to me moving to Arizona
where my friend works at  Arizona Firearms and the police turn in their service weapons
to him. He stated he has a .40 gloc for me waiting, now I like rifles but
a good compfy hand gun is nice.
Also anyone interested in a blued 44 magnum??

Stupid BATF.  My suppressor was approved August 8th.  It's been over 7 weeks.  All they have to do is mail my paperwork and they said they would do it within 30 days.  I called las week and they said it must have gotten lost in the mail.  I had to fax in a letter requesting another copy be sent out.  mad  Stupid BATF.

My G19 is a Gen 2 purchased in 1994.  It has performed flawlessly.
My G17C, G26 & G34 are Gen3s.  They, too, have given me no problems.

Re: 9-2x The Gun Thread

Sooo, I just got my Premise handgun license approved finally (app went in in April  roll) .. getting a handgun permit in NYC is pretty heinous. Anywho, pretty excited about my first hg purchase. I've fired a handful of times in out-of state / out of country shooting ranges. .45's and such. Pretty set on picking up a 1911 or Sig P226 atm. Still trying to decide on what caliber I should get. This will be strictly for range shooting, home protection, & for the upcoming zombie apocalypse  shifty . Feel like .45 might be a bit too much also I heard it's pricey to practice with. Thinking 9mm or .40. Any suggestions on what I should get is greatly appreciated. I don't even know where to start looking really in terms of purchasing. Any one in the Northeast / Tri-State area know any reputable / decently priced gun shops.. i'm all ears.

Re: 9-2x The Gun Thread

P226 is a great gun.  So are most 1911s.  I have both.

The advantage of the P226 is that you can get it in 9mm, 40 S&W, 357 SIG & 22 LR.  If you get the P226 I recommend that you get the 9mm or 40 S&W and then buy the 22LR slide/barrel for cheap and fun practice.  I bought the 9mm then bought the 40 & 22 slides/barrels.

Ammo cost (cents) per  arrow-right http://www.slickguns.com/category/ammo
22LR - 4
9mm - 20
357 Sig - 30 (but usually harder to find for most)
40 S&W - 32
45 ACP - 35-40

Here a link to the Sig P226 wiki  arrow-right http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SIG_Sauer_P226

Hope that helps,

WDEagle

Note:  Prices appear to have come down some on 357, 40 & 45 ammo

Re: 9-2x The Gun Thread

arrow-up thanks!!!

really does help. is it better to get a 9mm Sig226 then purchase the .40 slides / barrel or get the .40 and buy the 9mm slides & barrel? does it really matter? Also how easy is it to swap them? I have no experience with any of that hah  hmm . Anyways I really appreciate the input. Eventually I will have both the 1911 & Sig... I have to wait 90 days between purchases. Just trying to see what to get first .  big_smile

Re: 9-2x The Gun Thread

I don't have anything chambered for .40, but last I checked it was fairly expensive ammunition.  It's a high-pressure round.  The 45 is low pressure, but costs more than 9mm jsut from the cost of the metal.

The 9mm will allow you to shoot more for the same money, which is a good thing.  Train enough to become proficient, then practice enough to remain so.  We have gun shows around here, and bulk ammo can be had for good prices.  I kind of doubt you have that sort of thing there, but that's just a guess.

I've got a .22 target pistol that is really cheap to shoot.  I usually warm up with it to get my focus, then switch to the more expensive to shoot stuff.

Re: 9-2x The Gun Thread

The process is similar to getting a supressor or SBR.  You pass a background check and pay a tax stamp and you are on your way.  Some states do not allow these types of weapons regardless of stamp.

We're talking automatic, not semi-automatic, right?  If so, that's not true in California.  You'd need a "satisfactory showing of good cause" for needing such a weapon, after which the state *may* issue a permit.  Good luck with that.

EDIT:  You followed up with this, which I didn't see at first:

California has slightly stricter wording with respect to SBR permits, and has no provision for permits at all for suppressors.
