What do you do? Job list..

So as i was reading the shoe thread Someone mentioned working in a creative field, and since i didnt know what field that was i figured this might be a good thread for people. Maybe you work in the same field as someone else. Maybe there is an owner of a snow cone manufacturing plant and you are a unemployed snow cone ice shaver.  Get to know your saab snobs ect...

So ill start it off.

Occupation: I used to work for NASA, now I'm a full-time MBA student
Description: I got mechanical engineering degree from Vanderbilt in 1999 and worked as an International Space Station mission control specialist for 9 years.  The biggest aspect of that job was docking the space shuttle to the space station.  I quit to get my MBA an the University of Texas, and now I have no idea what I'm going to do when I graduate in May.  I'm leaning heavily towards starting my own company based on licensed NASA technology.

EDIT: I'd rather shoot myself in the face than be a cog in the machine of a massive company, hence the desire to start my own thing.

I actually designed the ISS-ATV docking operations way back in 2002, but the docking itself was done by somebody else.  I've docked a few Russian Soyuz and Progress vehicles to the ISS and the ATV is pretty similar.

Yup!  I was at JSC for the first half of those 9 years and and at a European Space Agency facility outside of Munich for the 2nd half.  If you know anybody that did ISS mission operations at JSC from 1999-2003, I probably know them.

Details: I work in the application support side of the semiconductor industry. I develop software tools in a variety of languages, while also performing customer support, and writing documentation. In those days, it was "beat the Russkies or die trying."  Some did.  You're right though.  Now, we are unwilling to admit that the frontier is a hazardous place.  It is.  If it weren't, it wouldn't be the fucking FRONTIER now, would it?
