Park Royale (San Rafael) customers - waiting for license plates?

If you bought your car from Park Royale (San Rafael) and are still
waiting for your plates, call the DMV to see if you're part of the 4 or 5 people
that Park Royale screwed up on.  Park Royale paid $2 short on my registration fee
and so my plates have not been issued..

Apparently, DMV contacted them and they "supposedly" sent out a $2 check on 7/18
but it never got there.  I had to tell the DMV clerk at Park Royale to check whether
that $2 check has been cashed.  I also had to tell her to send in another $2..
She has to check with her manager and call me back..   This is ridiculous.

Just remembered,  i need  to see when my temporary permit expires..

now i've a good reason to fill out my survey...  mad

Re: Park Royale (San Rafael) customers - waiting for license plates?

Yea, i purchased my car there mid-July and haven't got my plates yet confused
Should I call them up to see what going on?  That sux they forgot to pay a measly $2.

About the survey, did they mention if you bring it back in with postive feedback they'll give you a free jacket?
I did and got 1.  I also got the  saab blanket in the mail.

I'll probably call up to see whats goin on, cause i dont know when the temporary ones expire either.
Thanks for bring that up.

Ask for the "DMV Clerk".. But the person I spoke to is Jennifer.
That reminds me, I have to call them again to see what's up with my situation.

Re: Park Royale (San Rafael) customers - waiting for license plates?

I thought I was the only one!  Park Royale sux.  I too bought in the middle of July and still don't have plates.  I called them up and left a message twice.  They finally called me back and said that they forgot a signature and the paper work got sent back.  They signed the doc and re-submitted.  I was supposed to get my plates "anyday now" which was over a week ago.  I'll call again because this is just plain stoopid.  Not that I really want to have plates but you have to go legit sometime...

Re: Park Royale (San Rafael) customers - waiting for license plates?

Still haven't got mine.
Called two weeks ago and told me it should be in last week.
This is getting old.  Some is apparently wrong if most of their customers
haven't got their plates.  Shoulda waited till I got my plates to do the survey.

Finally got a receipt from DMV today.  My plates were issued on 9/23.  I am assuming I still have to wait for them to actually make the plates and mail them to me.   It's kinda odd that the "Type of Vehicle" is "Commercial".. I think Park Royale messed up AGAIN!   I'm calling DMV first thing tomorrow.

Actually that may be a cool thing for you.  Commercial plates are the same ones you usually see on trucks so instead of 6STN666 you'll see 6S12345 which means you can park in yellow loading zones without fear of getting towed.   banana  I'd prefer to have commercial plates.  It was nice when I had the truck.

Thanks for the heads up.. I gotta do more research on the commercial plates.
I wonder if the registration cost is also more..

It says on my Customer Receipt that they paid $263.00.
Anyone else know how much registration is for your car (non-commercial plates)?

Maybe Park Royale screwed up on the passenger vs. commercial car registration that's why the dollar amount
was short..

So maybe both you guys (D-rock and Capita) will also get commercial plates..

I'm heading out of town this afternoon but when I get back on Sunday I'll try to remember to look up how much I paid for the truck with comercial plates. I paid ~$23.5k for the truck so that should help put things in perspective.

I saw your post in the general discussion.  Damn those other states!

Re: Park Royale (San Rafael) customers - waiting for license plates?

In any event, I am calling DMV to switch it back to passenger plates..
i believe it should be alot cheaper in fees..  So more delay for me as they will have to process me again.

Updated:  called the DMV, they said to call the dealer so left Jennifer another message to call me back...
DMV person says commercial plates are slightly higher in fees.

Re: Park Royale (San Rafael) customers - waiting for license plates?

Here's what I had for my 2001 Ford Ranger (msrp $23.5k) for 01/31/2004

registration fee $40
vehicle license fee (LVF) $293
Weight fee $24
County/district fees $8
Smog Abatement Fee $6

VLF offset  -$198

total due $173

Don't know why the VLF offset but I'll take a discount anyday.  As for my plates, still have yet to see them.  I called Park Royale just now and left a message on their customer relations answering machine.  We'll see what they come back with.

Re: Park Royale (San Rafael) customers - waiting for license plates?

Just a FYI in case anyone else got their car registered as a commercial vehicle.  I was told by the DMV to wait for the plates to be delivered then go into the DMV (with the plates and title) to explain my situation and switch my plates to a passenger plate.   The dealership is out of the picture at this point since I am now the sole owner of the car.

I left Jennifer Edwards at Park Royale a message four days ago and still have not heard back.
I am forfeiting my jacket and cargo net (promised to me) so I can give them bad review on the survey to Saab HQ.

Yea, they are passanger plates.  They have the 1ABC123 pattern instead of the 1A12345 pattern usually for commercial plates.

Did you get your situation squared away?
