19 inch rims OK?

My car: 2005 9-2x Aero.
Stock wheels: 16-inch.
My suspension is stock (no spring lowering).
I called TireRack and they assure me 19-inch wheels will fit.
The rim will be bigger in diameter.
The tire will have lower sidewalls.
The tire circumference remains the same as stock.
Speedometer will be OK.

Each rim will be heavier by a few pounds.
The un-sprung weight will be more.
Assuming that the fit is great ( no rubbing ).

Questions:
1) Will the ride quality suffer? due to lower side-walls?
2) Will bigger rims (more unsprung weight) compromise the performance?
3) Has anyone fitted 19-inch rims on a stock WRX, or 9-2X?

3) yes. IMO 19 looks a bit too big for my taste.

Re: 19 inch rims OK?

Buy what you want to buy. A 19" wheel w/ a 225/35/19 will be within centimeters of an 18" wheel with a 225/40/18. There are quite a few tire size calculators on the net. If you don't race your car, you will be able to run 19's, but you also may need to roll the fenders.

Re: 19 inch rims OK?

word from the wise:  bigger is not always better.  if youre running stock suspension and 19s, your car will look like a donk http://carblog.99rides.com/images/box-car.jpg

a select few have ever pulled off 19s on a wrx/92x/sti, including show cars, much less with a stock suspension.  id stick to smaller wheels just to be more practical and realistic.  not many "affordable" 19s are even worth having quality wise.

19s are rice on our cars... not performance gain... only loss

Re: 19 inch rims OK?

jeepis ran 19's for a while IIRC.  They didn't do so hot in the gravel near Steamboat Springs

Re: 19 inch rims OK?

NO 19's...too ganster IMO.  18's are the biggest you should even think about.

Re: 19 inch rims OK?

19's fit, and they fit great!

https://saab92x.com/viewtopic.php?id=16660&p=1

https://saab92x.com/viewtopic.php?id=16683

I had them on my car with 215/35/19's, no rubbing issues whatsoever, even after I was lowered.  I loved the look and the handling, but w/my nearly 100 mile/day commute, I couldn't hang w/the road noise.   sad

If you want to do 19's, more power to you, I thought it made my car look really really nice.  You will have more road noise and the ride will be harsher, especially compared to 16's.

The 2 links I posted have some info and should help you out.  If you put 19's on your car, post pics!
