Re: Couldn't get me a 9-2X Aero...

This is how I know shook is definitely bitter. His comments are of no factual value. I went to the Canadian Black Book (secured personal) site and did some numbers. Within one year, the BB value for my 92X aero will sell for $35k at wholesale. I bought my car for $31k. This is prolly the only car on the market that it "appreciates" after one year!
I tried inputting an equivalent 2005 Audi A4 Avant wagon and within one year, the car sells for $34k wholesale! hmm... the Audi costs over $40,xxx brand new and loss $6000. My Saab costs me $31k and can be sold for $35k for a gain of $4000? That's why we 92X owners are so smug. banana

Excellent post, WD. I think that about sums it up. embeer

shook, I really don't know what you're trying to accomplish. Just stirring up trouble? We're all obviously very happy about our 9-2's here, and I don't know what you think you have to gain by trying to make us feel worse about our new cars. Which doesn't seem to be working.

As has been said multiple times in numerous ways, be happy with whatever you drive.

Re: Couldn't get me a 9-2X Aero...

I think people are getting worked up by Shook.  So far shook hasn't contributed anything useful.  Shook's a troll.  Shook's like the village idiot around here.

Easy fix:  Iota, do us all a favor and ban Shook187 so we can get on with village idiot free posts.

Anyone else agree with me?

I posted a "Should we ban Shook187 poll" thread in the off topic section.  I'm curious to see what people think.

As much as I agree that he's being an idiot, I'd stop short of banning him. I'm generally of the opinion that bannable offenses should be limited to seriously offensive behavior - i.e. threats, racist comments, profanity, etcetera. Shook's presence doesn't really offend me. If anything, he's raised some points that, while stupid, may actually be in the back of some 9-2x buyers' minds.

That said, while I'll defend shook's right to post here, I wouldn't exactly be sad to see him go. wink

Maybe he was trying to make all of us sell our 92x. That will make its already horrible resale value goes down further. Then he can finally afford a 92x

The A3 is starting to look a real winner now. I mean 6 speed manual or a direct shift gearbox for a auto trans. Fuel economy of about 24 miles per gallon city and 30 highway. Available later in the 2006 model year is the A3 Quattro with all-wheel drive and the 250-horsepower 3.2-liter V6.

WOW

Looked at them!  SUPER-OVERPRICED just like the retail on these things!  They are SMALLER than the WRX too.  really just a golf 4-door hatchback.

They're still quite nice, definitely have the luxury part down comparatively. Still, on a price point basis, can't compare. And AWD apparently will not be availible without the 3.2 VR6, so those'll be well over $30K.

As far as the depreciation factor......Shook is wrong.  He does state it is only his opinion that 92x owners will take a hit on depreciation, but he is still wrong.  Let's look at some facts....(from my posting at FW)...

The 92-X gets a 4 out of 5 star rating on depreciation, acording to this industry leading website. That means the folks out there who buy the 92x will have good resale value down the road.
