I totally agree with this.  I'm 5'7" 145 and they kill my back unless I keep them nearly upright.  And then my legs get tired.  In fact, I hate-hate-hate the seats and regret that my Mazda was far more comfortable for driver and passengers.

I am not keen on the gear ratios ... 4th is needed too much on the highway.  And I wish it was tuned for a bit more usable torque.

Tires are awful.

And the stereo sucks.

But I can deal with the doors and love the frameless windows.

A few mods and a chiropractor and I'll be happy.

Re: Ok, gripes about the 9-2x.

well lets see...the seats aren't very supportive, and when I am in a comfortable driving position there is absolutely no legroom for rear passengers.  The body roll is horrendous, guages are hard to read.  5 speed is notchy, and you actually have to concentrate to get smooth shifts.  The jerkiness on acceleration, and the sucky stereo.  Regardless, I love this car to death.

Re: Ok, gripes about the 9-2x.

I love this car.  It is my first car in this type of market.  It is a Saab right????

But and there is always a but, things that I would like to have seen:

1 - Power seats - for this price (I mean MRSP  smile )
2 - Higher quality looking leather, I didn't get the leather b/c it looked kinda cheap IMO, no real texture, give us better looking leather.
3 - More Saabish interior, its pretty much unchanged.
4 - Auxilary power (not sure if thats the correct term or not) but I need to turn the ignition on before I can use the cigarette lighter, just noticed that this week-end trying to use my air pump.  Oh and no outlet in the boot, so thats 4b.
5- Key Fob - OMG.  I would pay money to get this replaced, its kinda embaressing, "I have a Saab" see my keyfob, luxrious, no?
6 - Why no HIDs in Canada???????

Thats it for me.

Cheers,

Michael

Oh, I still love my car, can't wait to see what it does in the snow.  smile

Re: Ok, gripes about the 9-2x.

Major gripes
AC is way way short on cooling power.

Motor is short on power before 3k.

Transmission is sometimes very difficult to get into gear.  This one has improved bunches now that the car has a few miles or maybe I have just grown a heavier hand.

Lesser gripes
I would like significantly less body roll.

Needs more ground clearance.  (Doesn't go well with above.)

No tilt adjustment for the seat bottom.

The wifey claims the passenger seatbelt is often tightening up and not letting go quickly enough.

Re: Ok, gripes about the 9-2x.

I knew I would forget some more stuff.
here goes:

My damn radio, when listening to shuffle on a cd, will get out of shuffle when the radio is shut off. So when you get back in the car, instead of listening to the rest of the CD on shuffle, it just goes to the next song, which may have already been played. This irks me because you can't turn the radio off without affecting the "shuffle cycle." What moron designed this I don't know.

The other day, when I was filling up with gas, the damn thing barely shut off in time, and gas sprayed out of the tank! I heard imprezas have this semi-problem of the pump not shutting off til the very end but this is ridiculous. I've never had this happen to me, ever, and I've filled up tanks on all sorts of cars. How dumb!

And the visors look like they came from the dollar store. Are they made of cardboard? Crappy visors X1000

Other than that, I love my 92x

Re: Ok, gripes about the 9-2x.

i don't like that if i lock the doors from the inside with the power door locks, and later unlock a door with the key, the horn starts going off.  i think i can disable this, but it's a hassle to me.  anybody got any suggestions?  i also don't like that one cannot unlock all the doors with the turn of the key when unlocking the driver's side door.  i don't like carrying my key fobbie thing around that's why.  especially when i'm out running or cycling - i don't want to carry crap in my pockets.  perhaps i'm just too picky - i'm used to my taurus where i had the numeric key pad and can unlock the car that way so i could leave my keys inside the car.  oh well, no big deal - just got to get used to it i guess. . .  i hope the AWD in the winter makes up for everything.

Re: Ok, gripes about the 9-2x.

yeah i think driving it (the most important thing) makes up for all the little things.

But no wonder this car didn't sell well for MSRP, all these little things don't belong on a $30k car, but are welcome on a $19k car.

I haven't seen any other 92x on the road

cons:
the sunroof it too small
I don't like the cloth seats

im in the same boat with carrying the key fob...
here is what i do if i am at a bike race or something...
1)lock car with alarm
2)unluck drivers door with fob
3)leave fob in car
4)lock door from outside with valet key
5)stick valet key in pocket
6)enjoy ride/run

you can lock all the doors, by hand, but no way of doing that with the trunk...  so i "invented" the above method.
but yeah, my old saab would lock everything all at once with the key INCLUDING THE HATCH!!!    ugh.

Re: Ok, gripes about the 9-2x.

1.  driver side chair adjustment thing is so huge.  my suit pants legs always gets caught in it when I get out of the car.  one of these days i just know I'll rip the pants.
2.  the lights for the ac, heat etc suck.  it's hard to see in daylight.
3.  I wish they would have left the rails on the car.
4   key fob sucks

LOL so many complaints...but yeah they did come a little short on the plushness of the car, and the Key FOB...I must agree is the ugliest thing ever...its so big..wtf?  My 93 IR jeep Key fob is ugly, but much more graceful(smaller) than this hunk of thing...I keep thinking the buttons are on the key since the grip is so big

i have yet to try to turn off the security system to just leave it in valet mode, i think.   if this makes sense the alarm won't go off if i unlock the doors from the outside if i lock from the inside.  i'll just have to reset the security system for the car every time i feel like i'm in a shady neighborhood.

I'm starting to dislike the frameless windows.  They seem like a breakin waiting to happen and they sound really cheap if you close the door when the windows partly open.

Re: Ok, gripes about the 9-2x.

First of all,  in general, I love it.
But, gripes
1. Lack of grunt under 4K.
2. Cheapo floor mats.
3. Radio/clock too dim; bright option has to be set every time.
4. Ignition key should be between the seats!  I understand they did this on the 9.7.
5. No aux/ipod interface on the stereo
6. No rear fog light
7. A/C indicator light is too dim.

BUT, even with the bridgestones, it handles almost as well as my old Miata w/ better tires and konis.

Just to comment on ... No HID in Canada

From the info I get it is probably because of the Daytime Running Light (DRL) requirment up north. In the US when you opt for the HID the DRL's get deleted. So, I think they didn't want to have the HID's running all the time since the bulbs are pretty pricey (plus you can't run them at lower voltage like the DRL's for this car are). I believe that if you look up the specs for an STI it is pretty much the same thing (US=HID standard, CA=Halogen with DRL).
